Administering Suboxone Film close to the base of the sublingual area

Okay, so just today I took my medication, 4mg of Suboxone Film, half of a 8mg film strip.

I placed it close to the base under the tongue, on the bottom of my mouth resting above the jaw. In hopes that this might be exactly where the sublingual area resides.

Because usually I put them under my tongue, but this one was positioned even lower than that. Without using a mirror, and closing the mouth immediately after.

However, after a couple of minutes it seemingly disappeared.
I confirmed the taste was present in my mouth, to make sure that I actually took the film strip and didn’t miss entirely.

I still made it a point to try and maximize absorption, holding and swishing around the juices for a couple of hours afterwards.
But it just seemed to not even have much of an effect!

After dosing, I’ll get the urge or feeling to immediately take another additional film. Despite my better judgment, I’ll make do with what has already been administered in the mouth.

Attached is a photo of a mouth that is open, with regions properly labeled. Where would you place the Suboxone Film?
Perhaps always taking the full 8mg film strip, instead of dividing it in half and smaller pieces might help.

I also think it’s best to have it positioned properly in front of a mirror, under the tongue on the right or left side.

How do you all feel?
It’s my opinion that this method works better than buccaneering or gums or cheeks or nasally.
Being a sublingual film, after all it belongs in the mouth, under the tongue. I was just disappointed to find putting it directly under the tongue, even lower than usual..didn’t meet with much successful results.

So, according to this diagram.
Would you place a film on the Frenulum of tongue?
The deep lingual vein, or closer to the top apparently Fimbriated Fold

Update: Sorry for the double post!

So, I just took my 8mg Suboxone strip.
Supposed to be my one and only for the day.

I took the whole thing at once.
Underneath the tongue, on the right side.
Imprint side down making contact with the surface.
Towards the top, vertical placement.

However, I didn’t make sure to lay down all of the edges flat.
Instead, just placing it in my mouth, in front of a mirror, and then immediately closing my mouth while trying to remain with tongue held high.

It didn’t really work..
I got another craving to take another one.
Wishing I had stayed in front of the mirror with mouth open, watching it dissolve.

Anyone else?

I like the picture but read what I wrote after your other post. The 'science' says that 12 mg will create the maximum opioid effect, but doses out to 24 mg create higher receptor occupancy that might reduce cravings....

but in my opinion many of the cravings are purely conditioning. How many people addicted to opioids use once per day?? So it is unnatural to suddenly think one dose of Suboxone per day will make you feel fine. That's why even though all of the package inserts say to dose once per day, most peeople dose twice. Some even three times, although I think that is usually needless and sometimes counterproductive.

Does your doc mind if you dose twice per day? Check first... don't get yourself kicked out (which would be pretty silly, but happens). I tell my patients to take a dose first thing when they get up, and a second one in the late afternoon. It takes at least a couple hours to fully absorb a dose, so that usually keeps people happy until bedtime.

So, if you were taking 12mg per day to achieve the maximum opioid effect, would you recommend taking the full 8mg film strip at once, followed by half so 8mg + 4mg would equal the full 12mg.

Or, would it be more beneficial to take 4mg, wait a couple of hours, take another 4mg, again wait a couple of hours and then another 4mg which would again equal the full 12mg amount.

Following that same line of thinking, what if you were to take only 2mg, so 1/4th of a 8mg strip, wait a couple of hours, take 4mg, wait a lot longer and then take 8mg.

2mg - 2mg - 2mg - 2mg
or 4mg - 4mg
Or 8mg all at once

I’ve always wondered this…
As if you split the film in half, you can get more than a single use from one film’s package.
Otherwise, when it comes time to dose additional film, you have to open a brand new one. Whereas if you split the film, you could save that film you would have otherwise opened for a completely different day.

See what I’m getting at here?
There are so many different variables to consider.
