Re: Question about dose of Suboxone Film 8mg/2mg

Now you have me a bit concerned Dr. Junig. My doctor knows I take 2mg's daily but prescribes 4 so I don't have to come in every month. Some days I take only 1mg and have stored up several months' worth. Am I breaking some law here by doing so? I assumed my insurance company would figure out what we'...

Re: Accepting new patients - Wisconsin

That is awesome news for those who live in your area. I and hopefully, we, are very happy you pulled through that health scare and have decided to stay riding on the bull of life with its ups and downs, for at least a few more years. On another note, if anyone here is good at social media, we here w...

Re: Dosage Time

The buprenorphine I take is only 1-2 mgs and that doesn't hype me up. Such a low dose still makes me tired after about 3-4 hours so that works for me. I do know what you're talking about if I take 8mgs or more. And it does hype me up in the first few hours. But then I'm home so who cares? Suboxone s...

Re: COVID shot

Good stuff Doc. I was wondering why a newer vaccine wasn't developed that contained the dead virus like they make for other viruses like the flu shot. My wife and I had a very bad case of Covid a month before the vaccine came out. Lost 10-12lbs and even looking at water made me nauseous. Two weeks o...

Re: Burning / numbness in mouth / tongue

Some people have complained over the years about this so it's nothing new. Try to place it in another location that isn't sore. I've even put the generic buprenorphine up between my upper gum and cheek. That method takes quite a while for it to dissolve.

Dosage Time

Just curious about what time other Suboxone patients take their medication. For such a long time it would make me a little tired during the day so I started taking it late, after work, etc. Then if I do get a little tired no harm is done. My prescribing doctor told me to take it between 9 and 10AM a...

Thanks Dr. Junig for all the work and money you've poured into this site over the years. I am one of the lone moderators who is so glad to see someone else answering the new posts. You're right, people have been reluctant to post new questions or answer the ones here. We have a few members who do po...

Re: Should I notice anything diff w subutex

They both contain buprenorphine. The generic Subutex doesn't have the naloxone in it but you won't feel any difference. I've taken both and can't tell them apart. It would be much better to taper down off the films instead of the tabs but that's up to you. The slower you go, the better. The films ca...

Re: How long after taking my last dose of sublimate will pain meds work

Please look through the Talk Zone link up top to view our doctor's recommendation on how to properly take pain meds with buprenorphine. I had cancer and the pain was intolerable. What I thought was the right thing to do ended up being wrong. Like you, I stopped my Suboxone the day before surgery and...

Re: 2 months and 2 days since last dose

That is some really great news Mr.Grapes. When I first read your original post on how you stopped it was a bit confusing until doing some research to see just how it can be done. Stil, it scares the crap out of me to even consider your method, but I am very glad it worked out for you. Having had a v...

Re: Buprenorphine w/out naloxone

That is actually surprising he did that. I've been trying to get my doctor to give me the straight generic buprenorphine for years but he refuses. The small amount of naloxone does nothing and won't hurt you. Most all doctors were told to prescribe the Suboxone because of the naloxone in it. The com...

Re: My addiction story

Congratulations on taking the first step. It seems your doctor is going about it backwards. Most of us started on a high dose which completely stopped the withdrawals and then we tapered down fairly quickly to a manageable dose. My doctor over prescribed me with 24 mg's the first day. I got so high ...

Re: Metabolizing buprenorphine too quickly

As you probably already know, buprenorphine has a ceiling effect. It's either 8 or 16mgs. A quick search here will tell you. Once you have hit the ceiling, you're wasting the medication. When you hit the ceiling, it takes around 36 or so hours to wear off. That's why people who stop cold turkey from...

Re: Metabolizing buprenorphine too quickly

Yours is a very troubling story and not one I feel competent to comment on. Being on 1-2 mg's daily myself it is always enough and I never feel withdrawal. The only time I did was when I forgot to dose on a day I took 1mg and by the evening my mood was bad. An hour after dosing I was fine. Sleep is ...

Re: 6 weeks off after 15+ years

Congratulations on a job well done! Being an opiate user for decades changes the way we think. It will take time to adjust to not having it in your life just like any other habit. When I quit smoking it sure took a long time to not think about it. Everyone told me to do it one day at a time and thos...

Re: Keeping journal during step down

Not a bad idea. Can't say I've seen any other members post about doing it though. The important part is to go slow, very slow. Once you get down to 1mg or less then you can talk to your doctor about Sublocade or a Butrans patch. The patch is for pain so that may be a problem. The good thing about th...

Re: Should I be taking this with an open or closed mouth?

When you say it isn't working does that mean you are still getting cravings or waiting to see if it has a euphoric high? Most members don"t feel it in their heads. For me, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to feel its effect. What effect are you concerned with? The medication is a great one for stoppi...

Re: I Wish

Sorry, there is no magic pill. All a person can do is taper very slowly to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. If you read some of the stories here in the Stopping Suboxone section you'll find a few members who were able to stop w/o too much discomfort. Then others have trouble even when they do taper d...
