Re: Ensuring that the film sticks down fully under the tongue, fiddling with dose in the mirror with an open mouth

Greetings! Details about what I will write are described here: https://www.suboxonetalk.com/optimizing-buprenorphine-absorption/ Understand that buprenorphine is absorbed from ALL surfaces in the mouth. Some areas actually absorb better than 'under the tongue'. The big veins under the tongue have NO...

Re: Question about dose of Suboxone Film 8mg/2mg

Yes, my patients' doses range from 2 mg/day to 24 mg/day. From everything I've read, you get the maximum opioid effect (most people anyway) at 8 - 12 mg per day, but higher doses result in greater receptor occupancy, which might reduce cravings. I would encourage you, whatever you do, to be honest w...

Accepting new patients - Wisconsin

I have about a dozen open bupe spots if anyone in Wisconsin is interested. I am the least-expensive option out there if you don't have amazing insurance.... feel free to email me if you have any questions. I was slowly winding down but have decided to keep it up for another 7 yrs since it appears th...

Re: COVID shot

Such a tough decision, especially since nobody knows what to believe. One would think that the CDC or FDA would have clearer guidelines for people who have been infected and those who haven’t… guidelines that we can trust to be free from political messaging. I think those agencies lost the trust of ...

Posting issue

I notice, when I post something long, that I am often logged out by the time I hit the post button. I don't know why that happens but I hope it isn't discouraging people from posting. A couple suggestions: When you log in, hit the 'keep me logged in' box. That seems to help. If you are writing somet...

Re: COVID shot

I could write pages, but I’ll try to be brief. No offense, but you try to obfuscate by using more words than necessary and avoiding the central tenet of the question. Your comment about myocarditis is a great example. Writing about percentages is silly when you, nor I have any idea of the actual num...

Re: COVID shot

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I don't know what it was like for you in your country. Here in the US, we have all seen many, many press conferences with Dr. Fauci, where he clearly overstated the effectiveness of the vaccine. It is easy to go onto youtube and watch his press conferences; he...

Re: COVID shot

Interesting. The study you mentioned applies to the J and J vaccine, which didn't use mRNA to insert spike protein into muscle cells. I realize that the J and J vaccine has been linked to clotting abnormalities. But most of the concern out there is about the mRNA vaccines, where little data about si...

Re: Dosage Time

I wish we had more comments lately... Rule, have you tried signing up as a new person to see if it is running smoothly? I'll try that later in the day... But on your subject there are a couple meds -- modafinil (Provigil) and armodafinil (Nuvigil) that are not stimulants, but they block sleepiness p...

Never heard the term 'no boot', but finally docs and clinics are getting it- addiction is a disease that needs treatment, and everyone isn't cured immediately. I DO immediately discharge for a couple behaviors.... swearing at my office manager (say if a person is angry that they cannot refill meds e...

A couple people sticking advertising links in here, but I guess that's OK... Simontie, that is an interesting comment. I worked in the methadone industry for 6 yrs and saw many people blow up to such an extent that I hardly recognized them when they saw me six months later. Most of the people, and i...

How to use this forum

This forum was very busy 10 - 15 years ago. One reason I wanted to keep it, even when I wasn't able to keep it healthy, was because of the huge wealth of information stored in the database. Hundreds of thousands of questions and answers are beneath the top page, and people are welcome to go back on ...

Reason for this forum

This may or may not see use. I had an operation recently called 'pulmonary endarterectomy'. Wikipedia has a good description of the surgery and the disease that requires it, called CTEPH. Many people in 'real life' and on my blog have asked whether my CTEPH was due to the COVID vaccine, and my answe...

COVID shot

I get comments on my blog, http://suboxonetalk.com where I've written extensively about my recent battle with blood clots in my lungs, about the COVID vaccine and its possible role in clotting problems. If you have thoughts on the topic, know of a person who had a strange clot history, have a link t...

Re: Suboxone to Subutex

You must not be in the US? There is no Subutex film in the USA. We used to have Subutex tabs, but they were taken off the market at the same time that Suboxone film came out. There is no difference for patients between Suboxone and plain buprenorphine, what we used to call 'Subutex'. None. I often h...

Re: Suboxone film being washed away after placing in mouth under tongue

I will start with this: https://www.suboxonetalk.com/optimizing-buprenorphine-absorption/ I fear that you are driving yourself crazy! So the average absorption for film is about a third of the dose. But even at that low level, a person taking 16 mg per day is almost assured of getting enough absorbe...

Re: How long after taking my last dose of sublimate will pain meds work

Yes, so many advantages to staying on buprenorphine and using a larger dose of an agonist. Fentanyl is probably the best (the in-hospital, IV kind -- not the fake xanax tabs!). As the doc said above, Dilaudid is a good idea. I'm always slow to use Dilaudid because I don't have that much experience w...
