Hi, I'm interested in learning about buprenorphine clinics. I run a buprenoprhine support program for people who get buprenorphine through a private doctor. The nonprofit I work for is interested in developing this program into a full clinic.

If you participate in such a program, what is it like? How does it work? What has your experience been? Do you think this is a better model for people who are in early recovery than getting their medication through a private doctor?

You can reply here, or if you are willing to chat I also belong to junkjunk! (social networking site for people affected by opiate dependence) and you can message me there or find me in the chat room at junkjunk! on Monday evenings from 9pm-10pm EST/EDT.

Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom, I'm fairly new to Suboxone treatment (5 mos.). I have a doc who doesn't recommend therapy or support groups. He spends 5 min. with me & hands me a script. This is not what I expected, so I've done a lot of shopping around in my area and have only found 1 doctor who is different. I've been thinking a LOT about opening a center for Sub patients that would be holistic, including therapy, groups & access to and M.D. I'm not a medical professional myself but I would be involved in the management/administration. I'm wondering what area of the country are you in? Right now it's just a daydream for me, but I would love to make this model a reality. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
Lilly
