I'm not sure if I should post this here or on the dosing line but I am annoyed with a couple of pharmacists so here may be a good spot. If you are prescribed a dose that requires you to cut a film does your doctor give you a script with the actual instructions or do they "fudge it?" The pharmacists are telling people that according to 'their' instructions from the manufacturer the films cannot be cut and they cannot distribute them that way. I call and give them instructions and then they will follow directions. So it takes two phone calls, one to the pharmacist and one to the patient reassuring them that at least in this regard I am not an idiot. So, if you are tapering and taking 1 mg a day, does your doctor continue write for the 2 mg and verbally tells you to cut it or is it on the actual RX, to take 1 mg or a 1/2 strip? During the induction process I'll often have people using 1/2 strips to get them to their final dose. I won't name names but it is a big box store out of Arkansas.
I'm wondering if this is just a location problem, not many prescribers around here.
Just a quick update if you have read this far, I am 5 months into my practice and have almost reached my limit (30 not patience). By far the best part of my practice and meeting a bunch of great people and feel like I am making an impact.

Hi docm,

We are very pleased to see that you still read our forum and participate fairly regularly. The more medical professionals we have here the better. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the work with addicts and making a big impact on your community.

When I was down to 1½ mg's my Dr. was very trusting of me to cut them myself. He wrote the script for 30 2 mg films with instructions to take one film per day. And yes, I had films left over. Instead of going in once a month, I set the appointment when my films got low. One time I missed a whole month and nothing was ever said to me.

here's a good thread that goes along with this topic,,,

and anyone trying to get smaller, consistant doses.

of course, you could use the 8mg films, and get bigger, CONSISTENT doses, as well......

just thought it might be a good read for some of you.
