Dr. Junig,

I went on Suboxone in December 2008 to address a 50 to 100mg/day hydrocodone habit. I tried weaning with my wife's help and couldn't do it. I had to have those pills, or syrup or poppy pods, etc. So I turned to Suboxone. The drug did it's job in breaking the habit and drug-seeking behaviors, though I disliked the side effects which included sexual dysfunction, severe constipation and myeoclonic (sp?) jerks. Anyway, I started at 8mg, which promptly made me vomit, not from precipitated withdrawal, but more likely because 8mg was a shock to the system of a relatively light Lortab abuser. But gradually I worked up to it and in September increased my dose to 12mg. Long story short, after one year I jumped off at 12mg and had virtually no withdrawal symptoms. How could that be? During the middle of the second, maybe day 10 or 11, I had a couple days of chills, thick chest congestion, headache, sweatiness and diarrhea, but it was nothing. It was very, very, very mild. I took immodium, motrin, etc. and am now going on my second clean month. I wanted to post this here for the benefit of anyone who is afraid to stop. Thanks for all the videos you have posted. I found them very helpful over the past year as I came to understand my disease. I feel GREAT today.

Congratulations! And thank your higher power.... :D

I also stopped with no w/d's but after a long slow taper, and at a much lower dose.

Good job.....And keep it up!..People need to hear of success!! Alot of these people only hear of the bad stuff.

Take care, Amber :)
