So I started going to a clinic a few weeks ago around the beginning of the month and started on 4mg, then upped to 8mg same day because 4mg did nothing (upon intake you can wait an hour to up dosage). The next day i went down to 6mg because the 8 made me puke everywhere. 6 was perfect and i was on that for about a week, then started to taper myself back to 4mg with concern from the nurses, but I knew what i was in for (or did i). I abruptly stopped going after my third dose of 4mg and haven't gone in about a week or so and my mental cravings have been horrendous and I don't want to get back on the percs.
My question is: do you think the clinic will let me back even though i stopped showing up without notice and do you think they'll let me back on my maintatiance dose of 6mg?

The Burgh,Go Steelers!!

I would tell them just what you have told us.
The truth. Burgh, this csn and imo should be a loug term deal .
Sure, you can detox in a matter of dsys using bupe, but Nothing really changes does it.
Cravings Cravings cravings, the root and heart of all relapses in opiate addicts and addiction.

Call them, tell them what has happened and ask to restart the process.

Hope this works out for you and 6 mgs could be your stablized dosage.

Good luck Burgh!

Ditto what razor already said! Most patients who successfully come off buprenorphine, have worked on their coping skills and strategies for dealing with cravings/stressors for quite a while, have cut all ties with the using world, are far removed from all things drugs, and have a solid foundation of recovery in place before beginning a long slow taper.

Thank you... I'm just so anxious that they won't let me back because i went against their advice to continue maintenance, and I don't want them to think that I don't need it because I haven't been there. I have been clean the time I haven't been there but i know that if i go another week I'll end up back on percs. I also don't want them to think I'm abusing it because I've switched dosages so many times but the only reason i went down to 4 is because i was trying to taper myself. I don't wanna be on ANYTHING but i realize that I'm going to have to pick the lesser of two evils until I'm strong enough.

Burgh,
Dont lie to them so you will sound worse than you are!
The truth. Your an a opiate addict Burgh, ya need this help and
Treatment. This is a treatment not a band ad or a stop gap drug.
Use this dr and his staff to get on a recovery path.
Buprenorphine was made so we can have time
to help Ourselves.
Im in your corner man, i want to see people succeed, but
im also behind lloug term treatment mot detoxing in the short term.
Just tell then ya messed up and need there help. Ive seen this
in clinic many times.

And ya it would be great to not take anything, unfortunately we have a disease, like other diseases
that needs medical treatment. Thank god we have this today.. otherwise...who knows were it can go..

Best of luck and im sure you can do this Burgh!!

Hey just wanted to update with what happened in case someone has a similar question.
I went back the morning after posting, and was flagged to talk to my counselor. I talked to her and told her I ran out of money and that i was trying to self taper and she understood but didn't believe i was clean those four days (I wouldn't either tbh) and got urine from me. I Was able to dose after but they had to keep me at 4mg because i hadn't dosed in 4 days.. I wasn't happy with that but they put in an order for the 4/2 (6) mg & i got it a few days later. Just happy to be back on maintanence!!
