Hello everyone!

So I went to my bupe doctor/primary physician (I absolutely love her!) yesterday & had a first time wellness exam, & next month I'm gonna get blood work done (grrr). This isn't the point of this post, I'm just throwing it out there. But I was informed that June 23rd is when my contract with the insurance company ends. In order to be able to have my insurance cover me for another year, I have to stop smoking weed. This is not a problem at all, I just want to make sure that the insurance company will approve of it by the time I have to go back June 23rd. So my question is, how can I make sure that my insurance will cover me? & On that note, how can I get this done before June 23rd?

I appreciate all responses!

Ash

Omfg..insert huge red mad face here...
Unfortunately I can’t offer any help, but I feel like I must rant!
The medical community has been and still is raising the roofs to get pot legalized as it could be another prescription option to combat the opioid crisis. It makes me irate that states can’t just legalize it already!! Screw big alcohol, they’ve made their dirty money!!

Anonymouse,

Yeah it's quite unfortunate that the "big dogs" make money off of our misery & pain. Did you hear that 35 states are suing reckitt/benckiser/indivior for profiting off of the current opioid epidemic killing thousands in this country??

Hey Ash,
Yes and then the following year, which was 2017, they lost control over generica being made. My med is generic and my copay with our insurance is $10. This is one of the reasons why more of us are able to get MAT.
Disgusting! Link me up if you’ve heard any recent news on this please :)

Will do!! But have you had any trouble with prior authorizations? I totally don't want to go through all that! I wanna get it done before so that I don't have to go without!

Hey Ash :)
I got extremely lucky somehow bc our insurance is through Aetna and they did away with prior auth for buprenorohine/naloxone drugs late last year. All the insurances need to follow suit! :/

Hey Anonymouse,

What do you mean they did away with prior authorizations?

Ash,
It was March 2017 that Aetna stopped requiring prior authorizations for addiction meds. Here is the article about it:

I'm backkkk!!!!

Sorry I haven't been on in a few days, I clumsily dropped my phone in the sink while doing dishes. Luckily, I had some dry rice handy, so I stuck the sucker in a bag of rice. It worked!

I really hope that I get approved for another year, otherwise, I'm gonna have to switch to generics or even Subutex. I really do have an amazing doctor, & I'd recommend her to just about anyone. She told me not to worry about it, but I can't help myself. I've read alot of people's testimonies regarding PAs, & it's something that I don't wanna mess up on. I wonder, if I quit smoking weed today, will I have it in my system still by June 23rd? Mind you, I've gained about 40-50 lbs, but I've since dropped 15 lbs in the last few months. I don't really know exactly what I'm asking, but I would appreciate some advice regardless.
