So I posted a little over a month ago in complete panic over being pregnant and on 24mg of Suboxone daily. I was worried about my OB not approving treatment, and my sub doc cutting me off. Well much to my surprise things couldn't have gone better! I told my Psychiatrist first (she gives me my subs), and she was totally cool with it. Told me that she was very happy for me, and that she has treated over 25 women that have successfully gone through the Sub treatment and had healthy babies. *phew* Then it was time to tell my OB, I just knew this wasn't going to go well at all due to the fact that with my last pregnancy he was super strict with me even taking simple over the counter pain relief. However much to my surprise he was completely supportive! I explained to him that I had a problem and I was trying to fix it, and do better for myself. He told me that he was okay with me continuing treatment, that he was my doctor and he had my back 100%, he respected what I was doing, and would help me in any way that he can. He did however inform me that it would probably be in my best interest to taper down before delivery because the hospital might not be so "understanding". Which I had already kind of figured anyway, so that's what I plan to do!
My reason for posting this is to give hope to other women here that are in the same shoes and were freaking out just as much as I was. You can find a great doctor that will accept you and help you, I was just lucky to get it on the first try.
My cousin in on Methadone and her doctor referred me to a OB that treats pregnant women with addiction problems. I'm not sure if this doctor is more for Methadone while pregnant or if he would keep women on Subs, but I do know he is accepting to the problem of addiction while pregnant. I didn't go with this doctor simply because my regular OB was accepting of my situation, but had things not gone as they did that is who I was going to use.
If there are any women in the Houston area that need an OB that will surely help them, I would be more than happy to give his number if you just ask. :)

I'm so thrilled for you! I can imagine what a relief it is to have your doctors in your corner and treating you so well. It's so stressful just being pregnant, never mind factoring in maintenance, judgments, etc.. A good doctor makes all the difference in the world. It doesn't matter what the treatment is, they really have the power to affect your whole medical experience. Please let us know how your pregnancy and delivery carries out.

Wishing you the best! How far along are you? I haven't looked back at your other thread to remind myself. I apologize.
