Hello,

My name is Kari. This is my 3rd time trying Suboxone. The first time I got a false positive because I ate a lot of poppeyseed muffins. I was on a major muffin kick at the time and didn't think anything of it. So this discouraged and embarrased me and I didn't go back to that doctor. I tapered with what I had and relapsed shortly thereafter.

The second time the doctor wrote me the script and sent me home to start on my own. This was different than the way my first doctor did it- he started me on Subutex the first day so that I didn't have to wait it out until my withdrawals were in full swing. So needless to say, I tried a couple times and could only make it about 19 hours in to withdrawal and the Suboxone would make me more sick. So I gave up, again.

This time, I went back to my first doctor and he gave me another chance. He is a wonderful doctor. I am feeling great and very happy about how my life is going right now. I am about 2 months in but I just have a different mentality this time. I can't explain it. I have tried everything over the past 8 years to stay clean. My DOA was heroin. Before I went back on Sub I was flying a sign on the corner for money and killing myself slowly with infection. I never thought I could get that low, but I did and now I am ready to pick up the pieces.

Thanks for letting me share, sorry if there are typos! I need to get to the dinner table asap!

WELCOME :) :) :) :) :)

great job on "try, try agian"
for some of us, that really 'rings true'
It did for me too. I tried methadone the first time, but just abused it worse than the other crap I was taking before.

and heroin, yes, its a whole other monster, isnt it????????

I remember telling myself I'd NEVER do it, NOT in a MILLION years. But I reached that point where death would have been an easier road than further dopesickness, and that was it. Before that, even IV -ing oxy in my car, I was like "well, I dont do heroin , so Im not a junkie"

addicts can rationalize ANYTHING, cant we????

Anyway, good job!!!
and welcome

Hope your dinner was great

Hi Kari and welcome to the forum. I must give you kudos for your unending determination to make your sub treatment work! That determination will take you very far. It's clear that you want this BAD!! I'm impressed with how badly you want it, in fact. That tells me your chances for success are pretty damn high. GOOD FOR YOU! And good for you for going back to your original doctor. That took some guts...but you did what you needed to do FOR YOURSELF. Again, I'm super impressed with you.

Keep up the great work and I'll see you around the forum. Again, welcome.

Hi Kari, that's great that your first doctor let you back on the sub program! Maybe the different mentality that you have will be the difference you need this time. Welcome.
