I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the members who have made so many of us new folks feel welcomed. I see people (you know who you are!!) reaching out to new members every day. This forum is an incredible resource. Looking back at past threads, I have seen such kindness, encouragement, respectful disagreements, and intelligent conversations, all of which can inform my recovery. Thank you for sharing your experiences here so that I--and so many others-- can learn from them.

What a nice thing to say, Jolene! I remember that when I first started posting here, I noticed how nice the people were too. I'm glad we're keeping up the level of friendliness.

The collective wisdom on this forum runs very deep because plenty of people have been through so much in their addictions. And there are people here from all walks of life. I think the kindness comes easily because we aren't trying to hold onto the facade of being perfect. We have all made mistakes. We've all walked a mile in an addict's shoes.

Usually if you see a person who is being mean, it's because they like to stir the pot for their own amusement. They get some kind of thrill from being disruptive. Ideally we would all ignore that type of troll, but sometimes it's very difficult to stay out of the fray. Thank you for complimenting our better behavior. It gives us motivation to stay on it!

Amy
