for three years I took suboxone 4mg. twice a day . a couple of weeks ago I started tapering taking only 3mg once a day. Today I'm so sick with withdrawals. So should I still take it twice a day ? I know this is not mental b/c I have withdrawaled before many times from opiates.

Check some of the taper threads in previous posts and you'll find lots of charts on how to taper. I can't say what happened in your case because you didn't say if you went straight from 8 mg's a day down to 3. If you did, that is too much of a drop.

Try to go slow and steady. Reduce it only a little each week. If you drop too much and feel it, take a little bit more. It is really quite easy to taper down w/o feeling it if you do it right. In one year I went from 24 mg's to 16-8-6-4-3-2- 1½- and then 1 mg. Two weeks in between drops did the trick. To get lower than 1 mg, use the same method.

thank you so much for replying! I was taking half of a 8 mg film twice a day. sorry I didn't make that clear in my post. what I've been doing is just taking 4mg and cutting 1mg off that and taking that once a day. I guess thats too fast huh? thanks again for replying! this website is awesome !
