Hi Hurting:

How did things turn out? Everyone's given great advice and I won't be repetitive.

I would like to add this from personal experience:

I had an out-patient procedure the first week of December, requiring general anesthesia and pain meds in recovery, but none to go home with. Beforehand, my subox doc and I expected me to be on pain meds for 5-7 days following, but it turned out I didn't need it. Sorry, I digress a bit.

My point is I was told I didn't need to go back into moderate or even minor withdrawals before going back on the Suboxone. They told me to wait about 12 hours after last short-acting pain med then resume Suboxone.

I was given dilaudid in recovery (fentanyl did nothing for post-op pain) to help with the pain. Upon release I went back on my suboxone a few hours later.

I went off on a few tangents - forgive me - but my main point was one may or may not need to go into withdrawals before starting the suboxone up again. It may simply depend on how long you're taking the short-acting pain meds before resuming the subs. Not a doc or expert, just wanted to add my personal experience, although the situations are a bit different.

I hope this made sense, not much sleep last night. LOL

Hope you're doing better.

Melissa
