Hi-
I'm new to this forum. I am currently taking Suboxone- I have been under the care of the same psychiatrist for over two years. I have never come up "dirty" on a drug test. I also have ADD- my diagnosis dates back to early childhood and I have the testing to back up this diagnosis. I was receiving free Suboxone through the indigent program for one year, however, Reckitt refuses to extend my benefits. I have been forced to reduce my dosage because the cost of my prescription exceeded 500 dollars a month, and my doctor refuses to prescribe Subutex (now generic, monthly cost of rx would be under 100 dollars) because he only prescribes Subutex to pregnant women. I found a doctor in the area who has no problem prescribing for Subutex, however, he cannot write for my ADD meds. I am becoming quite desperate. anybody in the new orleans area, or failing that, in Louisiana, who knows of an open minded doctor who might be willing to work with me?
I would be grateful for any information.

I'm sorry that I don't know of any sub doctors in your area. But I'm wondering if you can keep the doctor currently prescribing subutex, and find a general practitioner who will prescribe your ADD medication. It might be a pain going to two doctors, but you're really lucky you found a sub doctor who will prescribe you subutex right off the bat! That's pretty rare.

Have you utilized this search engine?

http://www.suboxone.com/patients/opioid ... octor.aspx

You have to enter your zip code and how far you would travel. Or there is this one:

http://www.treatmentmatch.org/

At this site you create a profile to help match you with a doctor.

Good lucky to you and welcome to our forum!

Amy

Why couldn't your psychiatrist continue to see you just for your add issues/meds? And than you see the other Dr just for your subutext?
