Hello folks,

I'm new to this forum and so far I have been really encouraged by the genuine compassion and considered advice I've experienced.

I'm currently in day 4 of my attempt to switch to Subutex from Methadone. You can read a bit more about it here other-option-than-this-t9184.html?uid=12997

Anyway, prior to me trying this switch I had considered going for Ibogaine treatment. It's currently legal in the UK and there are a number of seemingly good practitioners to choose from. My discussions with the Ibogaine people determined that I would have to reduce my dose of Methadone before I undertook the 3 day treatment.

My question is, has anyone ever tried Ibogaine whilst on Bupe and if so, how successful was the treatment?

I am currently in two minds whether to continue with my Methadone abstinence and planned Sub switch or go back to a lower Meth dose in the hope of trying to switch after my house move and once I'm settled into my new job. Again, you'll get a better picture of my situation on my other thread.

Either way, I intend to undertake the Ibogaine treatment as I am very interested in it's therapeutic benefits, both physically and psychologically.

I'm interested to hear your experiences or thoughts...

Steven :-)

Hey Steven,

It's my understanding that Suboxone to Ibogaine is not a straight line. Most providers will have you switch over to a short acting opiate for up to 3 weeks to clear the Suboxone from your system.

For a time, I was interested in Ibogaine treatment, too. I had already quit Suboxone and had been off it for a short while when I started to hear more and more about Ibogaine. In the end, I decided against Ibogaine because of the tremendously powerful "trip" it puts you on.....and this is coming from a guy who loved tripping on acid while younger.

Research Ibogaine well before you commit to it. There are a few threads somewhere on this forum from folks who did Ibogaine (positive results from what I remember), use the search function to try and find the threads. If you can't find the threads, let me know and I'll search for them.
