Can I ask, how long can someone be on suboxone? Could you wind up having to take it for the rest of your life? I have a friend who has been on it for over 4 years and his doctor is telling him he wants him to tapper off, but yet my friend tells me (and his doc) that he is not ready and feels that he may use again if taken off. He does attend meetings and has a good support group. I was just wondering how long can someone be on it?

I just read something a member named CC_Rider wrote ...he said he has been on suboxone for 7 years. Also I see a post from a girl named SUBOXONE7YEARS who says she has been on it 7 years but some people were saying there is no way? Any how.... I wanted to ask the doctor is it safe to be on this medication for years? And are there doctors out in Illinois that you know of that will keep there patients on it for a while ( maintenance dose for life??) I am trying to get as much info for my friend as I can (he doesnt have a computer) so I told him I would try and do some research. Thank you all in advance for any answers.
