Hi, I am so glad I found this forum, I feel better already, :?

I have been abusing suboxone. I got a prescription of 14 strips (8mg/2mg) and I take 1 strip per day (8mg). After 14 days I run out and within 7 or 8 days I start feeling moody, angry, etc. Then I go get another prescription of 14 strips and start the process all over again. I've done this for about 9 months.

But now I want to quit permanently. I have been taking 1 strip per day for 5 days and I have 8 strips left. How should I take the last 8 strips? I was thinking that I could just cut them in half and I would have 16 halves. Maybe take half a strip per day for a few days and then cut those in half and take the remainder 2mg until I am out.

Again, I have not been taking suboxone every single day for the last 9 months, I usually take 1 strip per day for 14 days and then it takes me awhile to buy more....usually about 7 days. It's the same cycle..I take 1 strip per day for 14 days, then wait about 7 days and then start taking 1 strip per day for 14 days.

ANY advice/experience ya'll have would be awesome

Hi sabrook......I didnt see this post until this morning.....wierd.

Having 8 strips may not be enough to taper with. It seems like those who get down to a really low dose over a long period of time have the most success.

Anyway, you say you have a prescription for sub and its not lasting you the whole month. Could you be honest with the doctor and tell him/her that you have been needing more than usual lately to.control cravings. Would your doctor increase your dose for a while? Or tell her you want help tapering?

Also, many people say that quitting drugs is easy, staying sober is where the hard part comes in. Do you see a counselor or go to NA meetings or anything? You may need extra support during tapering and after quiting sub.

Whatever you decide to do good luck! Let us know how it goes.
