Hey everyone,

I know this isn't suboxone related for the most part but I started watching the Sopranos series months ago on HBO-go and finally just finished the entire series. It was an incredibly good show and because it was so great I watched episode after episode and wanted more and more.

It made me think that for anyone who is detoxing off suboxone, pain killers, or any drug, for anyone wanting to isolate yourself to keep your mind off the withdrawals this is a great activity that allows you kill time and stay interested in what you’re doing. I've felt in the past that staying occupied allows you to ignore what you're going through comfortably. When all you can think about is using, it will feel so much more unmanageable to actually stay clean during the withdrawal stage.

Have any of y'all watched the series? I don't know anyone else who watched the series and I am dying to know other people’s opinions about the series as a whole and mainly how it ended. Any thoughts?

Haha haha haha,. OMG, talk about obsession!!!? I was so into that show I bought the box set! The entire time I was on pain pills I watched this show. I ran it at home, I ran it at work it was ALWAYS ON.. LOL, OH MAN,.. I loveed it.. 5 years of it. My xwife hated it my new hf's got sick of it, my room at each put up with it, but I loved it.. I made me feel like I was,..well, it fueled my self centered mess, it did, I see this today. Ya I go to alot of meetings.. I guess in away I felt like nothing really matters, of was the boss like Tony. I lived like they did.I had all the earmarks. Plus I was fairly rich back then. Had it all.. so Tony S was my hero..
Today, or really since I cleaned up 28months ago, I never watch it. Ever.. it's that funny, it just went away. Funny I was thinking about fireing up the box set this summer.. just to see.. anyway ...
Oh and the ending.... haha, Ya blank... I'd read a story by David Chase the crater of the show as to why he ended it the way he did. He want us to figure it all out for ourselves.. so I believe T is out there somewhere.. lol. Oh, so what do I watch every morning since clean time started.. ,? Go ahead and laugh, Buffy the vampire slayer.. yup. Good vs evil... guess I'm with the good guys now.... razor..

M13 is the bobby you referring to the one that married Tonys sister Janice????

The Sopranos is my all time favorite show. I was fascinated with it from day one, my ex gf said I was like a stay at home mom obsessed with there soap operas lol with this show. How many times I stiffed someone I had plans with because I didn't want to miss a episode shit a minute. And the end of each show always made you wonder non stop what was going to happen next week. God I was so passed with the news Tony didn't want to do another season.

Great thread idea and I agree that great shows are a great way to stay busy during withdrawals.

*Spoilers*

razor53 and Bboy, I feel the same way! It is weird now that I am finished with the series I suddenly have a lot more time on my hands because I watched it sooo freaking much. I didn't have to buy the DVDs because I watched it on HBO go, so I primarily watched it on my Xbox but was also able to watch it where ever I went on my laptop. I can't get enough of the theories of how the show ended. Based on the camera techniques and the way the final scene was set up, I think either David Chase wanted us to give the idea Tony was killed, as well as a bunch of other theories. The final scene showed a lot of camera angles from Tony's POV, especially after someone walked in. When Carmella and AJ walked in it showed Tony looking up and then a shot of them coming through the door from Tony's POV. When you take that into account with the guy at the bar in the member's only jacket (which referenced the others wearing the jacket while committing murders) with the fact that the camera showed him looking over his shoulder over and over and that the camera followed him to the bathroom, I think he killed Tony right after Meadow walked in the restaurant.

I am so glad that I started watching the series now so I could watch them back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back without waiting a week in between over 7 years! The only downside was because it was such a popular show there were more than a few things I knew were going to happen hearing about it in the media and through family and friends. For example, I knew right from the bat that tony would kill Big Pussy, Chris and Steve Buscemi's character, Tony's mom would die, and the show was going to end the way it did. It was still worth watching though.

Bobby Bacala was the character married to Janice. I think that is so cool that he is friends with your dad! I think all of the characters were perfectly casted and performed extremely well.

I could have watched another 5 seasons of, I am with you Bboy! By the way I am glad to know others on here enjoyed the series as much as I did! I would also recommend Breaking bad and am taking suggestions on other shows in the category that these great shows deserve to be in. I heard Boardwalk Empire was good so I may give that a go.

I'm just starting breaking bad. Watched last season. But Sundance channel is starting from season one as of last Sunday. Madmen. But no guns haha.. interesting take on that last shot fireman. Good as I've ever heard. I think I'm going to restart watching Tony S. See how I like it clean lol. My doc was pain pills, so it always bothered me watching chris shoot up and nod. I hate needles for one thing...Idk, fun topic..

I'll elaborate just a little more after reading my previous post.

Throughout the final season there were a number of people who wore the member’s only jacket. I can't quite remember where the jacket was from but of the people seen wearing it those people were involved in a murder. The first episode of season 6 is titled "members only" because the focus of the episode was on a part of Tony’s crew who and wanted to move down to Florida after a big inheritance. Chris told him he'd talk to tony into allowing him to leave the crew if he whacked a guy for it. He went down to the restaurant where he was located and just shot him right then. In one of the final episodes when Silvio was killed, one of the hit men who took him out was wearing a member's only jacket.

In the episode where Bobby, Tony, Janice, and Carmella all went to the lake, Tony and Bobby were talking alone about when happens when you die. Bobby responded something along the lines of, it happens so fast you won't even know.

Adding on to what I said above, the final scene in the restaurant emphasizes a lot on Tony's point of view. Tony walks in alone, sits down, plays "don’t stop believing" by Journey, and the whole time it seems like he is on paranoid paying attention extremely close to his surroundings. Carmella walks in, the camera shows tony looking up and then from his POV Carmella walking in. The song began to play perfectly on cue when she walks in. The same thing happens when AJ walks in the restaurant except he walked in behind the sketchy guy with the member's only jacket.

The sketchy guy sits alone at the bar and constantly looks over his shoulder at Tony. When he finally gets up and walks to the bathroom the camera shows a side view of the Sopranos table as the guy walks past it. Meanwhile, Meadow fails twice at parallel parking before she’s successful. Once she does, she runs across the street to diner. The camera shows Tony immediately looking up as he hears the bell ring from the door opening. Rather than the camera displaying Tony's point of view from the table like it did when Carmella and AJ walk in, the screen turns black.

No sound from the gun firing. It happened so fast he didn't even know it. There are too many coincidences for me not to believe Tony lived. As everyone watched it for the first time, there was so much anticipation tony would be whacked that the viewer was on high alert the whole episode. I feel like they did a fantastic job creating what it'd be like to be paranoid and always looking over your shoulder like what it'd be like to be Tony.

I've heard good things about Mad Men, I think I may give it a shot. Btw, I know how you felt when there was drug use but luckily it’s not too often and focuses a lot on the repercussions of drug use.

Heres the final scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRkLE3rAwGE

OMG, Love this thread!

The Soprano's is my all time favorite TV Series. I too started watching it after the final season was over and watched them constantly until I was through them all. I LOVE your take on the final scene! Putting the comment from Bobby with it really makes sense to me...I had the feeling when I watched it that he got popped but I didn't want to dwell on it. I guess I prefer to imagine him still out there somewhere being cool.

I have ALWAYS loved any movie/book/TV related to the Mafia. The Godfather Saga was and is still one of my alltime favorites, especially #2. Just a couple months ago I read a new(ish) book by Mario Puzo which covers the life of Sonny Corrleone. Kind of a prequel to the first Godfather movie. It was pretty good.
I'm not sure what it is that draws me to this type of story...it might be that I have a weakness for bad boys. Doesn't every girl want a dangerous man????

Those pics you posted of the wrap party were SOOOOO COOOOOL, MG! Did you get to go to any of the parties with your Dad?

I never went to a party with them, I was in los angeles and the parties were always on the east coast...... I think the last party was at foxwoods casino or some casino..... I do know Schiripa thru my dad though. He is pretty much a regular guy.. very down to earth and normal ( if that makes sense)

I remember the final season everyone was asking me if I knew how it was going to end, and I will say no one said anything so it was a surprise for everyone.

No!!!!!!!!!!!

James Gandolfini just died.... My hopes of a Sopranos movie are completely shot down. Such a great actor he was making a positive impact in film world. Definitely will be missed.
