My blood pressure is really high and I'm afraid if I don't start soon I'm gonna have a stroke or something else really bad. All I can think about is not being there for my kids cause I couldn't find the right blood pressure medicine and I'm really scared to death so anyone please help!!!

HI Ronnie,

First of all, can you tell us how high your blood pressure is? If the doc sees this he'll probably ask, too.
Have you tried any medications yet?
My husband has mildly high BP, but he's had trouble finding one that doesn't cause him to swell up/retain water.

Give us some more info, and I'll try to find out what my husband takes in the morning.

Have you asked your doc about this? Is s/he giving you options?

Try to relax...I know that sounds ridiculous now, but I'm serious. Did you see my meditation/self-hypnosis post? I can use that to lower my blood pressure. Again, I'm serious. Maybe that's an option for you until you get on the right med.

Keep us posted please.

Melissa

Sorry about the misspelling (or acronym) for the substance:

I think you'll see what I mean now. The initials, apparently are those of
the organic chemist that discovered the compound!

Thx

Hi, I'm worried about your blood pressure! What are the numbers, and what does your blood pressure usually run? Not to scare you, but a risk is stroke, so please get medical treatment.

A couple of tips: cut way back on salt. Even if you think you don't eat a lot of salt, if you live in the u.s., you're probably eating a lot of sodium. Try to keep it under 2400 mgs of sodium pre day. Eat lots of lean healthy proteins, fresh fruits and veggies.

Caffeine can raise bp, so try to stop that. Also lots of otc meds, especially allergy/cold meds, can affect your blod pressure, too.

And I completely agree with the poster who discussed meditation and relaxation. And yoga is great, too.

I hope you get your issue resolved asap! Take care.

Those are all some good thoughts Sarah. However, the post from Ronnie is about four months old. Someone dug it up and made a comment on it which brought it to the top of the list again. You may want to check the date on some of these posts as sometimes old ones do get resurrected - even though the "crisis" has past and in many cases the poster is long gone. The last time Ronnie logged in here was May 10.
