Hahahahaha! Another off-label use for Suboxone.....birth control. Shishka, please check again with your doctor and if he assures you that information is correct then ask him where you could find proof of said information. Sounds crazy to me.
Leckus, if you are coming off of drugs that you've been taking for a looong time, that may be why you haven't had your period yet. Your body chemistry is readjusting, hormones and everything. My period was ALL out of whack for quite some time after stopping herion and opiates. (I would get a test just to make sure. Unless you KNOW that there is no way that you could be pregnant.)

Wha... wha... What?!! YES-- you can get pregnant while on Suboxone!! I have had 6 women go through pregnancies while taking Suboxone!

As for the missed period, I would also be concerned that you are pregnant; I have not seen any reports of menstrual changes due to Suboxone. Perhaps a person might miss a period if she is very stressed, or isn't eating at all-- and those conditions are sometimes present when starting Suboxone....

I will do a literature search and if I find anything related to missing a period I will post back.

I experienced the same thing at the end of month 2 of being on suboxone. It was confirmed after a test at the doctor that I wasn't pregnant. My period returned but all of a sudden at the end of month 5 (may 2009) my period has stopped again! (again confirmed i am not pregnant.) It's strange, before starting Sub my period has always been 100% regular.
it's quite frustrating to have these little "pregnancy scares" (if you will) on random months...

I don't blame it entirely on suboxone, perhaps stress from quitting opiates suddenly is also effecting regularity...

just letting you know you're not alone!

I also skipped a period after 2nd month of being on suboxone. I've never skipped in a period in my life before except when I was pregnant. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, so I'm just hoping that it returns normally. I've read that menstrual changes is a side effect of suboxone and opiates in general but I never even skipped a period when I was abusing opiates every day. Just think it's weird that suboxone alone would cause that.
