not sure what to say about this but i sleep 15 to 20 hours and stay awake up to 30 hours every day for the past 15 months.
i take 20mg lexapro 250mgnuvigil and 22mgsuboxone. if i stop the or cut down on the lexapro i could go back in to deep depression and if i stop or slow down on the nuvigil it could f up my central apnea. soboxone may not be causing so much of the problem. i dont think i can put up with this much longer and my thearapist and doc don.t seem to no what to do.
i miss apointments and people have talked with me about ADHD and said adderal could help and i do have all off the symtoms of ADHD. my doc thout of trying me on it but then said no. i need to try and make him beleive that adderal would be a better way of the to or all evils.

Johnboy, I'm not totally understanding what you're trying to explain. Are you saying that you are only sleeping 15 to 20 minutes per day and then staying up for 30 hours? Or are you sleeping 15 to 20 hours and then staying up 30 hours after that?

That's good news, Johnboy! I hope that the adderall helps with your sleep patterns. I have trouble sleeping consistently too. Sometimes I'll get 10 hours of sleep and then I'm just really sleepy so I'll have to lie down for a nap. And some days I will get 4 hours of sleep and stay up for another 20 hours.

Let us know how you do on the adderall!

Amy

johnboy and Amy, I feel for you both and your sleep issues. As you're probably aware, I suffered from extremely crumby sleep for a long time.

Have either of you ever considered seeing a sleep specialist or going to a sleep center? There's a fairly large number of sleep disorders and sometimes the disorders actually overlap with one another. Being diagnosed by a sleep specialist is usually the best route.

If you are diagnosed with a disorder, it doesn't necessarily mean you have to take meds. There has been some fair advances in the techniques used to treat sleep disorders, sans medication.

Myself, I have a circadian rhythm disorder. My sleep is offset or delayed. When I get to work in the morning, if I'm able to get out and get in the sun for a good ten minutes, it helps "regulate" me. In the evening (around 9pm or 10pm), I try to avoid devices that emit blue light. That's your TV, your computer monitor, some energy efficient lights and Disco Balls (avoid Disco Balls at all costs, people will think you're weird if you own one....trust me). Blue light in the evening is thought to suppress melatonin which will make it harder for you to fall asleep.

When I'm not able to perform these tasks, I take 1/2 of a Unisom (Unisom with Doxylamine Succinate) and off to sleep I go.

I hope you guys can get something figured out, having a sleep disorder is usually pretty bothersome.

Hey Johnboy,

Are you getting the adderal to stay awake longer? From my experiences on adderal it always kept me absolutely wired. Unable to sleep at all through the life span of the drugs effect.

Also, 30mg is an absolutely massive dose. I see that keeping you awake for like 24 hours, specially if you've never taken it. Adderal for sleep assistance is like crack cocaine for insomnia. They don't usually mingle..

I hope everything works out. A doctor prescribing that type of dose is ridiculously misinformed however. 5mg of adderal is normally where they start you...

Here's to hoping it helps however!

nuvigil was the real med for my very bad central ap- but had to be stop't in order to take aderall for ADHD. i have been ihave now been on aderal for about 2 weeks now and don't really like it but it seems to help slow me down so i can get a chance to think of how i thinking and may be meditate a little. i see no addiction at all on aderal and i don't care for it's effects.

Hey Johnboy,

That sure is a lot of meds you are taking for depression. This may be a dumb question but have you ever seen a psychiatrist? It just seems that a regular doctor wouldn't know as much about your condition as a specialist would. Reading what is happening with you and what drugs you take scare me a bit.

Just thought I'd ask.

That's insane you can't feel 30mg of ampetamines. I would take rules advice. Your doctor sounds confused.

hey guess what". i found out i have ADHD been on adderal for 3 weeks now . today my sub doc said and i agree the reason
why i dont feel the 30 mgs is because i have adhd bad so i do not feel the med so he up'd it to 50 mgs pr day and i finally can sleep better - think better - and i'm working better with my studio and not braking things. like i said above i no the drug is addictive so don't mind your not a doctor and i'm very expire- in all of this. ALL'S WELL THAT GO'S WELL. thank you!!

don't feel bad johnboy,
I have ADHD so bad, that SIXTY MG OF ADDERAL PUTS ME TO SLEEP!!!!!

seriously,,,,
60mg, was "too high" a dose for ME personally, so Im on 15mg twice a day, now
it's perfect,,,,

relaxes me enough to where my ANXIETY is pretty much nil, and I sleep just fine..... when WE were trying to figure out the right dose,, me and my doctor I mean,,,,
that's when we figured out 60mg was TOO MUCH, it made me incredibly SLEEPY in the afternoon.

people that actually HAVE adhd,,,, the amphetimines DO RELAX you,,, it's people that SAY they are adhd, and are not,
that it's the oppposite.
according to the doctors, anyways,

I've been on and off adhd meds, since I was a kid.

didn't mean to hijack the thread here, just wanted to point that out.

thanks

oh rule62 ' i can understand what your saying.' at times i would get pretty sick on meds and being mixed can be deathly .
abilify witch is a ant'i mood med all most killed me. i was sick for 9 months when and be for i stop't it i was in a dead depression / did not eat , could not take care of my self and felt like the living dead and could not die  my doc now under'ts
my system and is giving me what i really need i hope. wanttobefree i get what your saying but peaple with ADHD don't get high or feel the med as much as the one who do not have the disorder and what Amber said is pretty much about where i'm at
