Hello, this is my first time posting here. I relapsed after being sober for almost 5 years a couple months ago. When i originally got sober i went into detox and treatment, this time i didnt have that luxury. I started a sub program a couple of weeks ago and am already down to taking 2 mg a day. i guess my question is at what point should i stop taking it?

The Dr. that i went to wasn't very helpful so I'm sort of on my own. Starting yesterday I took 2mg right when i woke up, i feel okay. I am planning on taking 2mg for the next 8 days. Should i go colf turkey at 2mg or continue down to 1mg. Any help that can be offered up would be much appreciated. I just want to get on and off of the subs as quick as possible. Thanks again!!

Hello Scooter B,
Well, the term slow gos it", works here. If only detoxing with Buprenorphine then just spread out your days useing your 2mgs for a couple a weeks, then down to 1mg clr a time maybe two more weeks, cut that half to .50..to .25. You could go even lower before the step off. Thats up to you..
Im not a dr but have seen tapers before.
How easy or comfortable you will be depends of how high of a tolerance you had before while useing. This will affect your overall experience in stepping off opiates altogather..

Just my 2 cents, and hope yoj do well...

Also to add to Razors post,
Try to eat healthy and take vitamins and drink plenty of liquids. Exercise will help.
Bottom line take care of yourself and use your common sense. Get plenty of sleep. Maybe test yourself and skip a day and see what symptoms if any. I doubt you will have physical symptoms. The mental part is the hardest. We all want something everyday. It is just a habit.
Welcome to the forum!
Good luck!
Happy
