So, after contemplating a long haul on subs vs a short taper to get off pain meds, i have decided to go with a short taper.
I am going to do a week tops.
Has anyone else done a 3-10 days taper off other opiates with subs?

I am gonna do something like this:

day 1: 8mg
day 2: 4mg
day 3: 2-4mg
day 4: 2 mg
day 5: 1mg
day 6: 1mg
day 7: .5 mg

something like that. I will prob only start with 4mg even, because I have already done a few days of WDs...

let me know what any of you guys have experienced - if at all - on a short taper.

I have not tried the taper you posted.

I am not a doctor, but I would like to ask you how long you have been taking suboxone?

Why are you having wd's?

The reason I ask is that, the taper sechedule would be different for people who have been long time users vs short time users of suboxone and if you are already having some wd. Those factors arnd many others affect the taper schedule anyone does.

In my opinion, if you have enough suboxone to do it, I would would not worry about getting to 4mg/day. I would stretch the days out for a longer taper schedule and chek regularly with your doctor and get his advise about how you are doing with the taper schedule. I hope your doctor is aware that are wanting to taper off of suboxone? He need to know IMO.

Some people I have known have quit suboxone cold turkey after long use and had no problems and some that had bad problems tapering, even at very minute amounts of suboxone.

To some it up, the scedule look like it may be lowering the daily dose too fast IMO.

I would contact my doctor asap and ask his opinion. If for some reason you don't have a doctor to talk to there are many threads on this forum where you could use the "search" tab at the top of this page and enter in the box to the top right of the search "taper" or "tapering", click on search and you will find amny threads on the topic.

I cannot emphasize the importance of using a doctors advise who is well versed in suboxone !

There is also a website you might want to check out :

I hope you find the answers you are looking for.
