Second month on Suboxone and I feel great!

Tue Aug 03, 2010 10:48 am

Hi everyone my name is Tony and I needed to say thanks to these forums for helping me get on Suboxone in the first place.
Into my second month at 8mg's once a day and I am a different person than the old Oxycodone abuser that I was just a month ago. This medication has given me my life back.I have absolutely no cravings and am actually holding my mom's pain meds for her now!Everyday I give her the correct morning and night time doses and I keep the meds at my house. If I don't do this she will be done with the meds in a week.My father used to give them to her but he passed away last saturday and I took over. Also, not once did I ever feel like I wanted to take anything from her giant amount of oxy's and morphine pills.

If asked me how I could do this with only one month since being a user myself I would say,

"Now that's a med that works!".

Thanks for sharing! I'm so happy to hear you're doing well. I'm sorry about the loss of your father. I went through that 4 years ago and I know how hard that can be. You have my deepest condolences. The fact that you dealt with that and handled the stress is terrific - it bodes well for your continued recovery. And you're able to hold your mom's pills...well, that's damn impressive. Keep up the good work and keep us posted. We're here for you.

Hi Tony! It's nice to "meet" you and I am glad to hear you are doing well. I can't even imagine loosing my dad, my heart goes out to you.

I have been on sub for over three months and I feel the same way you do! I am exposed to narcotics as well (at work) and I have NO desire to use them. I can't imagine being around these drugs forever though and am working on a plan to be away from them, just in case.

I am also going to AA meetings, working with a sponsor, going to relapse prevention class, and seeing a counselor. Are you doing other things to support your recovery too? For me, I think all these things with the addition of suboxone will truly save my life.

Anyway, congrats on two months! That is awesome! Keep us updated and take care, Kire

Hi Kire thanks for posting,

To answer your question,I am so busy helping everyone else in the family that I don't have any time for counseling or meetings at this point.Shopping and taking care of mom,Grandma(who lost her son) and my little sisters,I'm constantly on the go.I think helping others is my therapy right now.

Perhaps in the future I will get a therapist.

Ps.
Just in case I seem like a rock,I will say I certainly have had my crying moments over dad.He was only 55...
