I kept my appointment with my pain doc's PA, who is now my recovery coach. I told him everything that happened during the last week, like nausea and vomiting, feeling high, and night blindness and I thanked him profusely for calling in the promethazine.

I asked why he felt the 4mg of sub twice a day was a good dose. His answer was that I was in observable withdrawal, even though I hadn't ramped up the abuse to stratospheric levels. He prescribed a month's supply and called in a refill of promethazine.

We're going to take this month-to-month.

Today, it feels like things are starting to "settle in." Every day, I have a little more energy than the day before, and a little less nausea, too.

Between doses of the nausea drug, I have been chewing gum if my stomach gets mad (something I learned when I was eating Tramadol like tic-tacs), or putting a small heating pad over my belly if I am tired of chewing gum.
