Hey everyone!

I'm really big into Pinterest lol and one thing I enjoy doing (besides looking at craft stuff)
is looking through recovery quotes or inspiration. There's some that just really inspire me to the point where I'm like.....yeah that's exactly how I feel 100%! I just thought it'd be neat if anyone has came across any that really speak to them, and share with the rest of us. I saw this one yesterday....

Recovery didn't open up the gate's of heaven and let me in
It opened up the gate's of hell and let me out.

Another one...

My recovery must come first
So that everything I love doesn't come last. (That's my all time favorite)

Addiction is not a disease of willpower. It's a disease of instinct. It lives in the part of the brain that tells u to breathe.

Just because u got the monkey off ur bk doesn't mean the circus has left town.

I'll stop there because I could find a thousand of these that really speak to me. Hope everyone has at least one to share...or as many that speak to u :)

Have a wonderful weekend in peace and recovery, remember when it was hell to just face the day.

Jen your never alone here friend.. :D

45 views no reply s. . . . Hmmm,
This tells me that:A, most folks on Buprenorphine treatment aren't involved in traditional recovery.
And B: Lack the disparation to join the recovery movement. Idk, just an opinion. .

Not judging it. Just the way it seems. Certainly in my clinic its the case. And thats to bad. Many times theses slogans can pull a person up .

I don't have one to share today, sorry. But I always enjoyed the positive thinking that comes with these .

Maybe more will chime in now since its bumped up again..hope so....

Razor...

Well I do a lot of Pinterest :) and there's all kinds of these little pick me ups about recovery. It's not NA, just recovery inspiration (I never look at anything NA related lol). I guess it's just cool to see someone post (on Pinterest) something that describes exactly how I felt....let's me know I wasn't the only person to feel like that. I don't consider it traditional recovery so much as just cool little sayings. It's just something I enjoy.

Thanks Razor!

Jen,

One other thing about Pintrest that is so funny. Type in "Pintrest Fail" on the subject line and it has so many failed attempted cooking and arts and crafts. So funny. Most of mine will fall under that category. ahah.

But when you are having a bad day just type in the "pintrest fail" and somehow I am on the floor laughing at some of the posts. Humor is so good for recovery and to bring your spirits up.

Jenn, I guess Razor is right about the members here not being a part of 12 step programs. There are so many saying's in AA it would take up too much room to list all the gems.

To hear a good many of them, rent the movie Stuart Saves His Family. It's a parody on AA, OA, GA, etc. Here are a couple:

"There is no chemical solution to a spiritual problem"

"We're all here because we're not all there"

"The road to sobriety is a simple journey for confused people with a complicated disease"

rule

I didn't even realize it was 12 step sayings lol I thought that the things I've been reading is just quotes from other addicts posted on Pinterest or Facebook....things addicts pretty much made up themselves to post on social media.

That's what I was talking about. I'm not a 12 stepper, never have felt that way. I can take inspiration from anything. Kinda like the quote we all have heard...take what ya need and leave the rest...but that's not the quotes or inspiration I was exactly talking about. But even at that, if it inspires ppl, traditional or 12 steps, that's cool too.

All of these slogans can help a person in recovery, no matter where they originally came from. AA/NA meetings you may hear them.
They aren't written in the Basic Text of NA. The big book of aa im not sure about, but I heard them first at the clinics IOP.
Traditional Recovery is 12 step recovery . Born out of the AA book in 1939/35? They also call it the Minnesota Model because of Hazleton.
And yes Jenn, they were made up by addicts mostly. From years and years, decades of recovery folk..

Ive never been to Pinterest but have hesrd of it, lol..

I do like "Take what you need and leave the rest"..great advice..

Sorry to be mia lately! We are moving and it is so stressful for me! I love the monkey may be off your back but that does not mean that the circus has left town! One of my very favorites! Thanks Jenn for reminding me of this one!

I found some Jenn. H.O.P.E Hold On Pain Ends; My worse days in recovery are better than the best days in relapse; Remember.... You are the most important person in recovery; and last These Things Take Time! :D
