Hello. I just signed up for this forum. I have been on subs for almost eight years. I was given subs at a hospital in 2006 but was in such bad shape from 30 hydro's/day for two years I just followed the docs advice and put it under my tongue. An hour later I felt great and even high so I looked for and found a doc as soon as I got out of the hospital a week later. I do not think anyone understood this drug in the US at that time and was never told about the horrific four week withdrawal and since I run a business and have alot of people to support. I have never taken the time to get of the subs.

BUT...my phychiatrist/addiction doc has suggested I try tapering to 1mg and the take naltrexone at home for a few days. He says it will kick the bupe off the receptors in 3-5 days but I may feel lathargic for 2-3 more weeks.

I would really like to hear from someone that has experienced this. How bad does it hurt? How long does the worst part last after taking naltrexone? Will I feel much better in 3-5 days? will I know I am over the worst of it when there are no withdrawals after taking naltrexone?

Does anyone have any knowledge to share?

I would be greatful to get the answers to these questions if at all possible.

Thank you in advance,
Troon407

I just want to say Welcome! Unfortunately I don't have any experience with doing it your doctor's s way, so I can't answer your questions. I wish you well during your taper!

Amy
