Hello....I am new here, and new to legally taking suboxone as well....I was just curious if anyone needs to take it twice a day or just once? 8mgs works for me but I need to take another 8 at night or else I wake up feeling like garbage in a pool of sweat... even if I take them both in the morning...does that happen to anyone else or is it maybe just me or maybe just because I dont have it built up in my system long enough? I have self dosed in the past for about 3 weeks, I'm not sure if it would have happened towards the end since the twice a day worked for me so I stuck with it.... Thanks :)

How long have you been taking suboxone? I ask because in the beginning of treatment, until the person is stabilized, it's not unusual to dose more than once daily. But once stabilized 8 or even 16 taken once per day absolutely should hold the person over for a full day. The idea of dosing once per day is to end the addict's habit of reaching for a pill later in the day when things go wrong. I hope this helps.

Hey moonfairy (love that screen name),

I always took my suboxone twice per day because that's how my doctor prescribed it. But, after being on this forum now for a little while I think it would be best if you could get to a once daily dose. The once daily dose will help you to minimize the addictive thinking which will only serve to help you in your recovery.

It may take you a little while to get there, there's no hurry. I would just start cutting my evening dose a little at a time. You could add the portion you cut from your evening dose to your morning dose if you feel you need to.

Welcome to the forum, you will find a lot of support here, you'll also find a lot of great people here who really want to help!
