Had surgery yesturday for a lumpectomy I the groin and ended up being a hernia repair too. I received no painkillers what so ever, and I did tell everyone that I was taking suboxone. They put me in a mild sedation for the surgery and sent me home and told me to take ibuprofen. The dr was going to give me norco for the pain but the nurse told me he didn't think I wanted any narcotics. I told him that they wouldn't work anyway with the amount of suboxone I was on so they told me that my suboxone and the ibprofen would be all I need for pain. I was proud of myself and feeling pretty good until this morning, my pain is about a 7 and the sub and ib are not doing the trick. Is anyone familiar with this kind of surgery? I would like to hear about post op pain and how it is managed.

I'm sorry that no one was able to give you the information you were looking for. How did it end up going this week? Were you in pain for a long time or has it eased up significantly? You should feel proud of yourself for turning down that norco! It's very difficult to turn down narcotics, even when you know they won't help.

Let us know how you're doing!

Amy
