hi everyone! im not new to suboxone but am new to this forum. I need some help with a question I have. I saw my Dr. today and was given my script. I get 20 strips a month. I live 90 miles away from the Dr. office so a few times I have used a pharmacy in that town instead of having to wait till I get back home to my normal pharmacy. So I went to the pharmacy in that town and when they filled my script the read the number of strips I was supposed to get wrong. They gave me 40 instead of 20. Part of me says do the right thing and tell the dr. but another part of me is saying keep them incase of emergency. Im afraid if I don't say anything that the Dr. will find out. I don't think they check the database ??? should I say something or not?

Hi Steph

I live in NY. We have the ISTOP program in the state so once i fill any scheduled script it goes into a database that any doctor or pharmacist can pull up and they do. I believe they have to check before filling a scheduled drug or the pharmacist will get in trouble. I also know for a fact my sub doctor checks the database on the same day i have an appointment. If you have a system like that in your state then your doctor will find out right before your next appointment.

Hopefully someone else will post but i wanted to let you know

Honesty is always the best policy. Act fast so you don't have a chance to think about it. There is a chance they can trace it back to you. I'm guessing there so take it at face value.

That's my opinion,

Hello Steph.

A few questions. Did you actually look at the prescription? Are you sure it was for 20?

Anyway it will be ok. Even if it is the pharmacy's fault, the chances they will take them and restock the strips is null, or 0. You can talk to your dr and maybe have him call in the extra 20. Either way my opinion is the mistake is on the pharmacy.

Worst case if you would call it that is you have a 2 month supply. I would however at least let your dr know then ask your dr him or her to give you advice on what he or she wants to do.

Hey Steph,
I think I would call the pharmacy first and ask them to verify the script.
If they say the script said 20, I would say thank you and hang up.
If they say 40, I would say thank you and hang up and call the Dr. lol

I second that "honesty is the best policy". Think of it like this ...what if you got home and found out they had only given you half of your script? That happened to me, but fortunately, when I called there was no argument..."just come back and pickup the rest".

Thanks for the advice everyone. Ive decided to call the dr. it would be stupid of me to take the chance on losing my dr. over this. I didn't look at script like I normally do but he did tell me im giving you 20.
