So..... My boyfriend has been struggling w Opana for a while .... He just filled his rx on Monday. He finally landed an appointment w a sub doc today after waiting 3 weeks.... Now that he has an rx for subutex and suboxone to kick properly how long legally must he wait to get the sub scripts filled. He is really trying to get his life back on tracking would hate to see some legal rx Mumbo jumbo bs happen to him when he's trying to so the right thing

Good for him! I used to use opanas. crazy drug.....he can get his subs filled asap! but he should be withdrawing for atleast 24-48 hours. I was in withdrawal for 36 hours before I got on my subs and was fine, the dr will most likely say he has to wait 48 hours but in my OPINION I think he would be ok around the 30 hour mark. I hear that Subs can make WD's a lot worse if he uses them while on the other stuff.

Steve.

As Steve said, he should be able to fill his Suboxone script immediately.

As for induction from Opana, 24 hours should be plenty, but the best way to induct is to use the COWS (clinical Opiate Wd Scale). It would be best if you scored him, as well.

Here's a link to the COWS. http://www.naabt.org/documents/cows_ind ... _sheet.pdf
