I dont know if ANYBODY else watches this show,
maybe Im the only one,

When it FIRST came out, I think the first season played in 2009, and I didnt have cable, but my next door nieghbor,( who I sold dilluad to) brought over the first season to me on DVD. and was like YOU GOTTA SEE THIS.

for those of you who havent seen it, its about a nurse addicted to oxy.
The season starts out, with her screwing the pharmacist at the hospital she works at, for pain pills, and snorting them in the bathroom.
As you can guess, I was like "this is the COOLEST show ever"
I watched the second season, on my nieghbors TV, when it aired.

Then I guess that must be about the time I got into the suboxone program, I rember wanting to watch the rest of the season that I missed, and it was for rent at the video store.

I started watching it at home, but didnt even make it thru the first disc.
I guess it was a trigger, maybe??
not sure, just wasnt as 'fun' to watch anymore.

Fast forward,
about 3 months ago, we get the 'good cable' , first time in YEARS.
I see some previews for season 3, where everythings falling apart for ol' jackie.
you know, how it DOES for 'us'

then i saw an advertisement for the 4th season, where she's going to rehab.

I started watching the episodes, I didnt see on "on demand"
And sure enough, I could be 'into it' becuase it was more 'real' with everything, coming apart around her.
her husband leaves, her kids are fucked up,
shes stealing at work, ETC ETC ETC.

Now watching the 4th season, I can totally relate.
I dont however like the 'hollywood spin' on it.
when she 'detoxes' in rehab, it shows her SLEEPING for like 9 days.
MY ASS.
we all know, when your detoxing, unless they give you that IV, that puts you in a coma for it, you dont sleep!!!

At least I didnt. even with the help of suboxone the last time, I didnt sleep good for at least a week and half.

I just wanted to put that out there, did anybody watch this when they were in active addiction?
does anybody watch it now??
I just watched the new one tonight, and her husband, or soon to be X, is planning on yanking custody from her
cuz he finds out she went to rehab. She was trying to 'keep it quiet'

I didn't...I hardly watched TV while I was "active"...

Most of what I did (when I wasn't chasing pills) was sitting around on the internet. I really thought I was doing something too..because DSL became available to me right after I started doing pills really bad, so I was upgraded from dial-up to DSL, and I could open web pages really fast --- WOW.

Boy the things that someone who's spaced on pills thinks are important...I'm glad that now I can easily figure out what is a priority and what isn't.

Also something that was quite scary, when I was on pills, no matter how high I was...I had no patience for my kids. If I was doing that now, with a newborn baby at home...I hope that I wouldn't hurt her by getting frustrated, but I don't know for sure. I had BAD temper issues when I was on pills..worse when I was coming down or near running out.

Amber,

I like Nurse Jackie as well- and you're soooooo right about her detox.. That was pussy shit- if detox were like that we could do that standing on our heads..lol.. It also wasn't realistic about how she was right back at work with no sluggishness or anything.. Though the emotional stuff was pretty funny "Coop made me cry"...lol..

Am I the only one that looks at the pills and tries to see if they're portraying them accurately? LOL.. They're not showing the right pills.. haha That's sad that I even know that isnt it?

Nogroovin,,,,,

YOURE SOOOO RIGHT!!!!! LOL

and your not the only one that was like "that aint right!!"" LOL

yea the emotions "came back" for her, but just that one time it seemed like, and now everythings just fine

I do appreciate how they are making her kind of 'trudge' thru the wreckage of her past , though. There should be a bit more than she has now, but it seems like they are uncovering more??

as a whole I like the show now, but like I said in my first post, I couldnt watch it right after I started sub, cuz she was still in her 'active addiction'

and I think the newest episode, where she 'gave' the pill she had to her friend, wouldnt have happened, well maybe a very strong person could have done that. But for ME, if I wouldve had a hold of anything those first few weeks, it would have been 'down the hatch' or in the arm.

But thats why I am so thankfull for suboxone. Ive gotten the 'distance' I needed from people/places/things ,, and although Im not ready to be suboxone free, its not as scary as a thought as it once was

Glad somebody else agreed with me about that detox!!! Even on the suboxone, I didnt sleep like she did in 'detox'
LOL

I was just watching the second to last episode and Jackie gets some Suboxone from Eddie. It's funny about Nogroovin's comment because the only thing correct they showed was the suboxone pill Jackie shook out of the bottle. It was one of old brand name orange octagon shaped ones with the dagger. But, Eddie just tells her to take two a day for cravings. He doesn't tell her how she's suppose to take it so she just swallows it. No wonder she's dipping into her daughter's oxy stash that same night. Would it kill the writers of a paid channel show to do complete research on something before talking out their ass through their characters, etc.? It's a good show to watch in how she mirrors a lot of what we, as addicts, have been through but I also think there's now a kind of schadenfreude feel to it. Like when I'm watching it now I'm all "Better her than me!" which is a horrible way to feel even towards a fictional character. Even though she does bring a lot of it on herself with her learned addict behaviors and habits.
