Hi everyone, I was hoping you all could help me with an insurance question.

I was on medicaid for a while, actually I still am. I went through the whole pe-authorization thing. At first I had to do it every year, then 3 months later I had to do it every 6 months. Eventually, after 6 months on the medication, I was having to get pre-auth every month.

Then finally they just quit doing it (at least for me) all together. I got a letter saying I could appeal the decision, but of course it was too late by the time I'd opened it.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to handle this? Do I need to hunt down a new insurer, if so, can you recommend some to me? I live in north Florida.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Bambam,

Sometimes it's a case of an insurer wanting you to change from one bupe product to another. I got notice last year that my insurance was no longer covering suboxone films. When I called the insurance company they said that they would be covering zubsolv instead. I made the transition to zubsolv with no problems.

It's worth a call to find out if they will cover a similar medication that your doctor might prescribe.

Amy
