Hi my name is Christina. I have been on Suboxone for quite a few years on maintenance. Started after an addition to pain pills. I started off on 3 films a day 8/2mg. After years I'm now down to 2/3rd of 1 of the 8mg film. I asked my doctor to switch me down to the 4mg films in a couple of days so I can start working my way down. I'm living a very normal productive life. I have 3 son's and a wonderful husband.i just wanted to introduce myself. I have been on the forum in the past but never registered until today.

Hi Christina, Welcome! My story is similar to yours... I was on pain meds and got hooked! I started on subs 15 months ago at 24mgs and have tapered to 6mgs. I too want to go lower but find myself needing to dose three times per day. I also take subs for pain so need it throughout the day. I am going to start cutting one strip in half so I will be taking 2mgs in the am, one mg at lunch, and 1mg after dinner. I too have a very normal life with a husband who is 100 percent supportive. No one really knows about my addiction issue with the exception of my husband, my nephew, and one close friend. I never took meds to get high just to handle the depression and pain I was dealing with. Good luck to you with your tapering! Please keep us updated about how you are!

Thanks for the welcome guys! I have switched over to the 4mg film strips and it's going well. I'm down to 4mg a day instead of the 8mg I'm prescribed. I was down to a little over 5 mg and now 4mg. The first week was incredibly uncomfortable. I have gone down many times and never felt it the way I did between just over 5mg to 4mg. I was having serious anxiety, leg pain, cold sweats ect but now I'm good. I take 2mg in the morning and 2mg in the afternoon. I can't wait to be off of them but I don't want to expect too much too soon and ruin my chances of staying sober.

Hi Christina, Me too! I went from three times a day to twice a day 4mgs total. I was not sure how I was going to cut out that middle of the day dose but it just kind of happened! I am very pleased with myself and do want to keep going! I do know that right now I need to stay at 4mgs. I believe Amy said it best "slow and steady wins the race!" Good luck and please keep posting!

and keep checking in. People here are very happy to help, and the contact can really help keep the spirits up during a long, slow taper. Good luck!
