hello my name is christina i am 23 years old and have been on the 8 mg suboxen pills for over 5 months my doc has on the prescription to take 2 to 2.5 a day but i have tampered down to half and even today so far I have only taken a quarter. I just recently found out I am 7 weeks pregnant and terrified with my first son i WAS SUCH A WEIRDO WOULD NOT EVEN HAVE A DRINK. My ob told me to try and just stop but that seemend impossible. I got so sick and could not handle it. I really wanna stop taking these all together for the sake of my self and my family and for the most part my baby. this began with I hurt my back and was on Vicodin for a very long time and then I told the doc it does nothing but make me sick and so therefor switched me to this and every time i go in he tells me just to stay on them everytime i tell him how do i stop. someone please help me or give me some ease of mind or a way to stop

Hi xtina and welcome. First I want to say congratulations on the pregnancy. Second, when you were pregnant last time and didn't drink, that didn't make you a weirdo, that made you SMART and a good mom. Drinking while pregnant is very dangerous. Now, on to suboxone. Most doctors would recommend staying on suboxone while pregnant - well, let me put it another way...most doctor wouldn't recommend stopping while pregnant. It would put you at risk of miscarriage, especially in the first trimester. It is very safe for the fetus, although you need to inform your suboxone doctor so he/she can switch you to subutex, as it has no naloxone in it and you don't need any additional meds that you are unnecessary.

So am I correct that you're taking between 2-4 mg per day? Is that holding you over pretty well? If so, then that's a nice, low dose during pregnancy. Just be sure to get an OB/GYN asap and inform them about your suboxone and history so that they can serve your needs properly.

Good luck to you and if you have more specific questions now, be sure to just ask. Again, welcome to the forum.
