First time on Subox it has been a week tomorrow, last week I was cawling on the floor looking for my DOC, today Iam having a wonderfull day with my daughter, I worked all week. I have gone from day one of 12mg to then 8 , then 4 and today 2. I am holding fine.

I have been sober from alcohol for over 20 years, fighting this addiction for the last 15, due to real pain issues. I only know whats working for me, during the last 15 years i have been off Opiods for a few years on a year off a year on and on and on.

I know what THE COLD TURKEY IS ALL ABOUT LIVING HELL for me, no way i coud be at the computer.

The shame and guilt I bring on myself and sometimes I allow others to shame and guilt me, is horrific and one of the biggest challanges in my recovery.

I go to meetings, I do my best to turn it over to a power greater then me, I have been a single dad for over 12 years and she is 12.5 y/o. she is awesome and the biggest gift of my life, my parents were great at showing me what a screwed up parent is, bless um, i have not done that.

Wht other people do is none of my *&(*&&*)(& business, i wish the best to all and have a great T day and thanks soooo much for this fourm.

Peace out.

Hi Pope,
I am a newbie and have join today itself. I have no particular idea or knowledge on this site. You have completed one month so you would be having loads of information. Before I could start here, can you explain me the concept of this site. I could do myself but due to tight work schedule, I need to leave it for the next week. Thanks in advance.'

Popeyensweetp-

Are you under a doctor's care? You are doing an awfully fast taper for having a 15 year addiction to opiates, I just am concerned about your recovery and want nothing more than for you to succeed at keeping it long term. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask.

Raising a child alone is rough, and we are not perfect but that is OK Were the people that raised us? My parents weren't and that's for sure! Then dealing with pain, that is another twist. I will tell you that once I was off the regular opiates a while, I did not hurt as much as normal, atleast now I am able to tolerate my pain.

Please keep us posted on your progress, everyone that shares here is helping not only themselves but someone else who really needs it! Thank You, Shel

I agree with the previous poster that this seems like a radical taper program. I'm certainly not a doctor and am not giving medical advice but can relate my personal experience. I've been on 24 mg a day for five months and am just now stepping down to 16 mg. My doctor is not pushing me and it's a very comfortable pace. Not taking issue with your program...just putting in my two cents worth. As drug addicts, we want everything and anything right now and we would be wise to slow the hell down and take some advice for once in our lives. Glad you're here and good luck with your situation.
