Hi folks, I am looking for anyone in Nashville area or more south who knows of a great sub doctor, and by great I mean, willing to assess each patient and their current situation, and not treat each patient by a set regimen. I've been on subs for going on 6 years and starting to finally taper off, but I just moved from Pa. to Tn.. I had a great doc in Pa, who was in no rush to taper and listened to me and what I felt I needed, not just followed a set rulebook on a taper. I really cant handle driving back to Pa. every few months, nor can I afford it. Any help would be so appreciated. Also, just to make it harder, my doc was prescribing Subutex, to help me out financially. Films were costing $10 and up per, where I was from. Do any doctors down here in Tn. even consider subutex? Places I have already called pretty much laughed at me for asking. =(

The good news is that there are some new generics that some sub doctors are willing to prescribe. They are not totally cheap yet, but it's still a move in the right direction. My insurance made me switch from sub to Zubsolv and I actually prefer it.

If you're not having much success finding a doctor, here are some things you can try. First of all, there is a link at the top of this page called "Find Suboxone Doctors". The naabt website also has a doctor matching service. Some people suggest that you call around to local pharmacies to ask if there are any local doctors prescribing sub.

I hope that someone from TN has some good information for you too. Good luck!

Amy
