Hello everyone, I am new to this site and thank god i found this forum.. I thought that i wouldnt be able to find anyone who knows what I am going through. First of all ive been prescribed suboxone for about 3 years, on june 7th i found out that i was pregnant, what a suprise! Im just very nevous on what the outcome will be like for my baby... birth defects? withdrawal? Im 10 weeks and 2 days pregnant today and have been taking my buprenorphine twice daily. I cant seem to find a doctor that i feel confident that knows about buprenorphine and pregnancy, every obgyn i call doesnt even know what it is. the ob i have now is thinking that i wont even be able to deliver in my town that scares me alot. he says that alot of pediatricians wont treat babies that were born on drugs. I dont like being judged cuz im on this medication. i will do whatever is best for my baby. i just wish i could find a doctor that has experience with these issues. i feel like im the only pregnant women in my town on this medication with the way they are treating me ! very frustrating, if anyone has been through this or something similar would like to hear your stories and how everything turned out. as for now im advised to keep taking my doasge twice daily throughout the pregnancy.

Hello :)

arent you glad you changed your life and went on suboxone BEFORE you got pregnant?? great job, on that!!!
I wish I would have. But I didnt know anything about bupe/suboxone, at that time.

I think your just gonna have to keep on looking for the right OB/GYN or doctor that you feel comfortable with. It might be hard, but it'd be well worth the effort.

Theres lots of stories in the pregnancy section of this forum that you can read. Many stories where babies dont even w/d, and some where they do, and how the mother handled it.

heres one link that will make you feel a lil better (or should)
http://suboxonetalkzone.com/withdrawal- ... uilt-trip/

Just take a deep breath, and look around in the pregnancy section, , ,
It will help ease your mind.

heres a few to get ya started................................

i felt just like u in the beginning of my pregnancy, except in my case i was still using, and when i tried to get help from my ob he wasnt much help... and it took til i was almost 6 months pregnant to finally find the dr i have now and get on subutex. i agree i wouldnt get off ur subs... my dr now actually is a sub/methadone/addiction specialist and a ob... he told me that here in detroit he delivered the first sub baby.. he's done studies on sub and babies, he told me one study he had done was to find out whether baby's did better on sub or methadone, and i guess the sub babies did so good they didnt even have to finish the study! i asked today too about the withdrawl, just cuz im 36 weeks now, and getting so close to delivery im starting to get nervous... but he told me its like 1 in 8 babies might suffer withdrawl.. and from the stories i read on here, very few are born with withdrawls :) maybe u can try calling hospitals, or search high risk obs in ur area to find a dr... maybe one will pop up that knows where u should go for the best care... my hospital is the same one my ob works out of, theres closer ones to my house, but i chose this one, cuz like u said most places know nothing about sub and treat u as if ur still using! i was set up to deliver at another hospital, and when i switched drs and seen my medical records there was a note in there to call cps lol.. which i asked my dr about today and he said only a social worker from the hospital would talk to me, and since i take my meds as directed and have been clean, and have drug screens to prove it they wouldnt drag cps into it, unless i tested dirty or something... i really hope u can get lucky like i did and find a dr that understands about subs, that way u can enjoy ur pregnancy, the first 5/6 months i was miserable! people judging me, the guilt i put on myself, everything, this ob office and hospital has been the only place that has been good to me during my pregnancy and made me enjoy this experience again! but dont feel guilty about taking subs while pregnant, so far everything is fine with my baby, and all the babys on this site are all healthy :) my dr said i can even nurse while on it :) what area do u live in?

I just want to send you my post to... I had my daughter back in feb. My whole pregnancy i Was stressed and scared out of my mind about what was going to happen to my baby. one because my original sub doc said if i get pregnant i need to have an abortion. and two just because of meds. I found a new doc who switched me to subutex and kept assuring me everything would be fine. she was due march 6th but boy did she want to be early around 4 am feb 24th day after my sons birthday, i started to feel like my water broke, well same thing happened with my son but it wasent really my water and he was a 24 hour labor. so i got up showered got gas in van walked around etc few hours later contractions got pretty bad my husband was sleeping i woke him and said its time to go. he said if this is false im going to kill you lollol so we left to take kids to schhool come to find out we had a flat tire so he runs kids through snow storm to school which was five min away by foot. meanwhile im in vaN SCREAMING IN PAIN trying to figure out how to get to my hospital because eif i call ambulance they will take me to closest one and i didn't want to go there. finally around 8:00 my father inlaw leaves work to pick us up he flies to hospital tells me not to have this baby in the new truck lol my husband calls says well be there to get epidural ready etc the rest is a blurr but what i was told is we get there he wheels me to the room i need to go to they take my blood and say we need to wait 20 for blood work to give epidural im like what!!! it was 9:30 when we arrived around 10 i felt as if i needed to push and still no epidural i kept screaming swearing it hurt sooo bad but all in all 10:35 she was born no pain meds nothing i didnt have any time to tell nurses about meds the only person who knew was my husband and doc but he never paid any attention to it. She had no sings of nas was perfect weight color everything the only thing i noticed was she was a little more cranky like would startle but when i asked nurses that could of been normal behavior the night at hospital we both paid extra close attention to make sure she was ok and the first few days at home were nerve wreaking for nothing because she was fine. she is now 3 months and as little colicky possibly because of the gerd. I am breastfeeding and taking 18mg subutex and everyone is fine =) story sounds little crazy but i hope it helps those out there you should not be stressed or worry because more then likley everything will be fine enjoy your pregnancy and your baby and always tell your doc what you are taking. if you have any questions or comments feel free to message i was on abot 8 to 16 mg subutex also im in chi il
