I would like to hear more information from anyone that has experience using Neurontin as an aid in coming off of Suboxone. Thank you very much for the time and attention to this matter.

Welcome to the forum, Hollywood,

Personally I don't know anything about neurontin being used to relieve withdrawals symptoms. I did a quick google search and others have asked this same question. From what I've read it does not help. Plus, as you might know, neurontin can be tough to come off too - it's got it's own withdrawals symptoms.

I'm sorry I can't offer anything more definitive for you. Perhaps others will have more thoughts on the subject.

We're here if you want to discuss your withdrawal symptoms more.

I found that neurontin was great for the anxiety of withdrawal. Not in the early intense days so much but in the 2nd - 6th weeks. I thought it was pretty good for anxiety. Clonidine worked better early on. But once your blood pressure naturally goes down a little, you can't just keep taking the clonidine. Then the neurontin was good.

Thank you for the welcome :) My girlfriend is the one coming off of the suboxone. For the past ten years she has been on the Oxycontin/Suboxone merry-go-round. 160mg Oxy once or twice a week with suboxone in between so not to feel any sickness from the opiate withdraw. She is ready to quit again (clean for 9mths w/ a relapse in March - last week). As long as she takes Suboxone she says the urge to use Oxycontin is there so she wants off the "boxers." Her doctor prescribed the Neurontin but I am careful not to get too involved in her recovery at this point. I have 2.5yrs sober in a 12 step program and as bad as I want it for her she has to want to do this also. I tried enforcing "my" program on her and almost lost her.

Thank you for replying and I look forward to hearing more from you as well as others.

Hello, Im new here and wanted to post a reply as to what im doing for the Suboxone detox. I have been on roughly 6-8mgs varying for around 1-2mos now. I am now in day 5 of withdrawal and dont quite know what to expect for the upcoming days. I have withdrawn before from Subutex tabs /Buprenex (injectable ampules) around 4-5 yrs ago, but from trying to think back, I dont think that my use was quite as consistent as this particular relapse has been, as I was only doing at least a 2-4mg tab per day or every other day back then (possibly more), with the last use being an IM administration of what I think was a 0.3ml ampule of Buprenex before committing to a 6 day in treatment detox... In THIS particular usage cycle, I began just buying a few off of a friend for a few 'kicks,' on April 7th of this yr... and I continued using, daily, until 5 days ago. I know what this drug brings the longer you use it, and being a maintenance drug, I also know the withdrawals are prolonged, but moderate and somewhat manageable... so I wanted to stop before I got in too deep.. But I have been using alprazolam (anywhere from 1-1/2mgs per day) daily since the last dose and some Cannabis... 5 days ago now, and it is helping, but not completely covering all the symptoms.. those being cold chills, anxiety (for which the alprazolam and Cannabis extremely help), but the most devastating symptom is the depression. I know it will continue for a little while, but any feedback someone may have as to how long to expect to feel so down and depressed would be extremely appreciated. Also, I have been sleeping quite well (usually 6-8 hrs per nt since last dose), and I know that may aid in the recov. process. Thanks alot..
