I had to touch on this subject for it makes me angry. Around the USA and where i live these new hospital groups are using such new websites such as "MyChart" where i live, it might be called something different where you live. Where i live all my d
Dr's are mostly in the same hospital group ~ which is about 75 miles in radius and comprises of 3 hospitals and tons of physicians. Twenty of so yrs ago these groups did not exist, a Dr worked on his own and they used a hospital that was nearest to them. Now they all belong to one another in one GROUP ! you could say they coexist.
Now my Hospital group has MyChart ~ which is a portal for me to look up lab results and test ~ see when my appt. are and email my Dr if i want ~ Ok that is cool and convenient ! It has its Pro's i must admit ~ and the reason for these new websites are to benefit the patient ~ so they say ! Now any Dr in this particular group can go into your other doctors notes and see what they wrote about you. Really ! You cannot access this at all ! ! but i think you may be able to request the notes for a price ? ( i am working on this) So for example my neurologist, or my oncologist, or my ENT Surgeon can read what ever notes the other Dr's wrote about me when i was visiting that Dr. ~ to me this is an act of a confidentiality agreement thrown out the window !! What right does my neurologist have to read my PCP Dr or GP about me maybe mentioning that i am say "depressed" (hypothetical) That was between my PCP and ME ~ not my neurologist
I am going somewhere with this and subuxone and addiction ~ just wait. Now this is the way our new health system is working !! Every doctor you see in a group ~ like my hosp group is huge ! ~ know what meds you are taking and who is prescribing them !! This is suppose to benefit the patient !! It is borderline not confidential. Now i am going to tell you what happened to me ~ and do not let it happen to you !
I was reading what Dr's were in my group one day ~ and i saw this "addiction specialist" ~ i was having a hard time with my Psych suboxone Dr and thought i might need another opinion ~ so i called this specialist ~ in my network and a young girl answered the phone ~ i asked her if the Dr had any openings and she said "no the Dr was booked and not taking new patients" She then asked my name and my birth date over the phone ~ big mistake on my behalf !!! I have just granted this young high school graduate office assistant permission to access my personal MYCHART page !! So this young "nobody office girl at minimum wage !! tells me over the phone that i should go to DETOX ! I cannot make this up ~ and guess what ~ now every Dr in my group that i see, can read her notes that she told me to go to detox and that i was an addict !! Again i cannot see what she wrote on my side of MyChart ~ but i called risk management at MyChart dept and they read me what she typed into MyChart !! Now what right does a "office receptionist have the right to do this ? And to this day they cannot take it down !! it stays there !! When i went into my side of MYCHART portal all i can see is that there was a phone conversation ! that is it ! So what i did was i called back a couple days later and told them i saw on my side of the portal that i had a phone conversation with them ~ i told the same girl i had talked to "that i had never called them" !! that someone else must have !!! Now she is freaked out and the risk management team for this group is called in ~ good move on my part ! It is still in the works ~ how the hell can people be documenting what you say on a telephone call !! So be careful people ! You know how we get mad at Dr offices at times ~ well they are typing everything you say and now everyone can read it !! IS this not just dandy !! I have learned to edit my mouth big time now when in the Dr office or on the phone. Word of caution ~ do not give anyone your name ~ birthdate ~ over the phone !! They will type all you say .

What i am getting at is be careful what you say in front of Dr's now a days ! it is not confidential ~ because of this girl i am now labeled and addict ! No one knew i was on subs for my Psych Dr is not part of this group ~ not a lot of psych drs are ! Now all my Dr's know i am on subs ~ i am in recovery and i have stopped taking Suboxone ~ but why should i have to explain that to every Dr that read this girls notes ~ Do you think it is fair ? yes websites like these are good for good things ~ but to ruin your reputation ~ it is "deformation of character" ~ plain and simple ~ and i have sought out a lawyer in Boston already. It is my choice if i want to tell a person i am an addict or in recovery ~ but in doing so i do not want to hurt them of myself !! 30 years ago ~ none of this existed ~ its the invention of the computer !
So if you belong to one of these groups of hospitals and Dr's ! they are everywhere now ~ I THINK you can request all your notes that Dr's and staff have written about you ~ i am working on that now for my lawyer.

This is just a heads up to everyone out there ~ Majority if Dr's now work for groups or associations with hospitals. They are all on the same page and what one Dr says about you, another Dr or even office staff can read it ~ it is suppose to be confidential ~ but i find this far from confidential . I ponder ~ just how legal is this ?? I do understand these websites are to benefit the patient ~ but its ironic for it really did a number on my reputation ~ i am a professional person and i act in a professional manner ~ i do not want to be labeled and addict ~ to people that are caring for me ~ to people that i am suppose to look up to . I l live in a very small sea side village ~ very prominent town ~ and i see my Dr's in Church, at the Yacht Club, and other places around town ~ i do not want to walk around with a label around my head !! That is for closed anonymous Halls such as AA and NA !! I guess in ending ~ It is the Administration ~ Big Business ~ that created these new websites ~ your Dr did not create them ~ he just adheres to them !!

I know exactly what you're talking about. I requested all of my documents once and you should have seen some of the things in the doctors notes. Calling me an addict. Saying beware all I want is drugs etc etc.

I know what you are saying..mu husband walked across pur 4 lane and down a block after shoulder surgery. The Dr put? Patient apparently drove because he was alone and had a set of keys with him.(HOUSE KEYS) I had specific instructions for him not to drive, because he could reinjure his shoulder. WHAT?!

there are multiple problems with MYCHART. A friend works for a dr who uses it. First of all the staff has no idea how to make changes or add results. Second, almost any dr. you go to can see what other meds you are on. Finally a relative learned he had cancer thru MYCART! It had been over a week and the dr. hadn't called him back with results!
I found out i had ovarian cysts thru thru the system my hospital uses. and since my primary care doc is part of the system, he asked me about the subs i was taking! and so did ALL the drs when I was in the ER and had a hospital stay.
they treated me like an addict and locked up my subs, wouldn't let me take my normal dose. ii had to take a whole strip or nothing. the confiscated all the meds out of my purse. they saw the bottles since my zipper was broke. glad they did see the subs i had in there!
my current dr doesn't even have a computer in his office! they do everything on paper!!
