I currently have Vermont Medicaid. I am thinking of moving to Massachusettes next month and will need to find a doctor and insurance there. Am I able to transfer insurance? How do I transfer doctors? The drive up here to Vermont will be very costly. Has anyone else moved while on suboxone, or state insurance, and/or live in Mass? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

I don't have any knowledge about how to transfer Medicaid benefits from one state to another but I did a little snooping around and found some information on MA.

These links focus on eligibility and how to apply in Mass. How far away from your doctor will you be moving? If you're currently in Burlington and are moving to Boston then, yes, you will need a new doctor. But if you're moving from Brattleboro to Amherst, for example, it might be smart to keep the same doctor if you can.

I imagine that transferring everything could take a few months, so I would plan on doing at least a few trips to VT. Hopefully, you can stay with a friend in VT when you have to make your monthly visits for a while. Good luck and I hope this information gets you started!
