I took pain pills for 5 years due to a pelvic fracture from marine corps. I went to the va and asked for help getting off the pain pills they put me on suboxone. I went from 8mg to 6mg in 2 months and my dr told me I was going to have to take this forever that's when I said NOPE I tried to taper myself and was unsuccessful (my addict mindset) I decided to just make the jump and hold on for dear life. I was taking suboxone for only 6 months. Today I am 16 days clean and it gets so much easier. Days 1-4 were not so bad days 5-10 I was at a peak withdrawl now days 11-16 I am on the slope to feeling better. I still have some lingering symptoms body ache, temperature awkwardness, I sneeze like 500 times a day, mentally it's been rough but just pushing through it! For some it seems this drug was a life savor but I would do a regular opiate withdrawl any day compared to this LONG drawn out withdrawl but that's just me. For those out there still in the storm of this withdrawl you can do it take it day by day it will get better. No point in pro longing your suffering! Stay strong

I took this from Stopping Suboxone and moved it here. Hope you don't mind but I didn't want yours to get lost at the bottom of a very old thread.

BTW, welcome to the forum!
