Hi michellen1cole723,

Unfortunately, I do not know much about Methadone so your thread will have to wait for someone who has experience with transferring over. I do know that it is hard to do and that you have to wait quite a long time in withdrawals before inducing the Suboxone to your body. You waited 4 days and that should have been plenty enough IMO.

Let's wait for those with better experience with this topic.

And FYI, I deleted your other thread because it was a duplicate. You only need one to start a discussion.

Welcome to the forum!

Like rule, I too have no experience with transitioning from methadone to suboxone other than it's tricky. Waiting 4 days sounds pretty good though. Since ur 2 days in dosing ur sub, just keep dosing. I know u still aren't feeling well but keep dosing like ur prescribed to each day. From what I understand, even if ur still feeling bad on the sub, it will finally come to a point where things get better. Just keep doing what ur doing. I know the first thing I'd do if I wasn't feeling better would be to think that something isn't working right....but it is so just keep going.

Other than that, I'm pretty clueless on this transition also. But there's plenty of ppl here that had done exactly what ur doing. They'll be along any second so stick around :)

Generally, it is recommended to wean down to about 30 mg a day of Methadone before making the switch. 4 days may have been long enough. Your tolerance is high, and it will take some time before it drops enough that the Suboxone will cover. The few that I have had that made the switch required 16 mg a day in order to feel well enough to function. After a couple of weeks you should be level.

Hi Michelle,

I switched from Methadone to Suboxone while on 20 mg of Methadone and it was like i never missed a beat. Now at 80mg switching might be a little tougher. But please stick with the suboxone. your body will need adjust to the dose . I would give yourself about 5-7 days making the switch for your body to get used to the new meds.

Good Luck!
