I am currently on disablity. My medicare is supposed to kick in shortly - but the cost of the medical insurance will reduce my benefits by a huge portion. I take suboxone and it is so expensive as you all know. I guess i'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a medicare rx program that will help to pay for suboxone. the insurance is optional, but i only have a couple of days to tell them not to hold it out. PLEASE, IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS, can you please tell me if it would be beneficial for me to go ahead and take a cut in pay, because if it isn't going to offset the costs at all, i won't be able to afford my suboxone, and right now, i have to think about that problem first...

I honestly don't know, but can't you just call them or even look at medicare online and find out for sure? I know there's a website and I think it can tell you what medications are covered, but I'm not 100% sure of that. What could it hurt to try to call them? I really hope this works out and it's covered for you. Please let us know how it turns out. Maybe others on medicare will come by and let you know more.

I have the AARP medicare prescription drug plan. It pays everything but 6.30 for my sub rx. If you wan't to choose another medicare drug plan look up their formularies and make sure sure that suboxone is listed as one the drugs they pay for. Some Rx plans won't pay for it.
