Post subject: Life Insurance Denied For Subutex
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2018 3:25 pm
I'm in my 30's, non-smoker, very healthy, 750 credit score, but was denied for life insurance because of Subutex(buprenorphine). I have been on the medication for over 5 years and it is the only thing that has helped with my migraines and depression. I would try to quit Sub if I thought it would make me eligible for life insurance but from what I've read it makes no difference...

So my question for anyone with ...

 Post subject: Pre-employment drug screening
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2018 12:25 pm
Hello Everyone, first I just want to say that even though this is my first post, I am not new here. I have visited this message board on and off since about 2009 when I first heard of Buprenorphine. Over the years, I feel like I've gotten to know some of you really well, (Amy, Rule, JennJen, etc. and of course Dr. J) even though I've never chimed in on any of the conversation. A ...

Post subject: Precedent-setting EEOC lawsuit is vindication for Suboxone
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2018 11:06 am
A Maryland man has been awarded $70,000 after having an offer of employment with Volvo rescinded when the applicant subsequently revealed to be taking legally prescribed Suboxone for opioid-dependency during a post-offer physical. This is vindication for ALL Suboxone/Subutex users as it sets a precedent in that it has been found in Federal Court to be illegal for potential employers to discriminate in their hiring practices against those who take legally prescribed Suboxone for opioid ...

Post subject: Death Penalty for drug traffickers
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:58 am
Trump announced his plan today on how he will tackle the opioid epidemic. For those who bring high amounts of opioids into the country, are most likely to be charged with the death Penalty. He also said that they'll be working on prevention ads for children & Congress recently appropriated $6 billion dollars to combat the opioid epidemic. If the decision was yours, how would you spend the $6 billion to combat the opioid epidemic? ...

PostPosted: Sat Feb 17, 2018 11:00 pm
I’ve been on subs the majority of the last 8 years and this is the first time I’ve encountered this situation. Long story short, I had a relapse and missed my last appointment. I’m back on track now and have rescheduled for next week. Meanwhile I’m detoxing. I have 28 subs still I filled from January at CVS. I live in Alabama if it makes a difference. I’m desperate to feel better but refuse to ...

Post subject: Involuntary Committment for Substance Abuse
PostPosted: Wed Jan 03, 2018 12:03 pm

A blog post that describes Massachusetts use of 72 hour holds for substance use. It lacks any input or interviews of anyone that has actually been subjected to it. Is 72 hours enough? If withdrawal is aggressively treated and MAT offered would people respond? A new approach that needs a robust research approach to see if it actually helps. As one of the commentators wondered, will ...

Post subject: Sub DR sending me to psychologist for xanax
PostPosted: Mon Dec 18, 2017 3:05 pm
hey guys!

I haven't been on in a while but I was wondering if anyone's suboxone DR has sent them to a psychologist (or similar) to get put on Xanax for extreme anxiety.

I was on Xanax 3 1/2 years ago for my anxiety. I stopped (by myself) once I got into the sub DR. I wasn't addicted to the Xanax but didn't want to take the chance. Since then I have tried quite a ...

Post subject: Substance abuse counselor on Suboxone
PostPosted: Fri Dec 08, 2017 7:15 pm
People in my MAT group will sometimes ask if I’m still on Suboxone, to which I was previously able to answer honestly, no. Now that I am taking it again I don’t know what to say, because I believe my employer would fire me for being on it. Isn’t it ironic - they’re letting me do a pro-MAT group, but they wouldn’t allow an employee to be on it? I hate to be dishonest, but ...
