 Post subject: Tramadol
PostPosted: Wed Oct 19, 2016 9:44 pm
Docs tend to think of Tramadol as less of a problem than other opioids. Today the Wall Street Journal carried a very interesting story of how Tramadol has become a huge problem for the rest of the world. You can find it here-- check it out:

 Post subject: We're Back!
PostPosted: Wed Aug 10, 2016 9:09 pm
Goodness... it always surprises when things suddenly fail and bring the site down. Crashes are rarely caused by something that I did, or someone else did--- but instead they just happen without any explanation. Today, at least according to the company where I have a VPS hosting account, the DNS settings-- the set of numbers that direct traffic to every site on the internet--- started directing traffic to the wrong place. I haven't touched the ...

Post subject: Congress Raised the Cap?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2016 8:23 pm
Congress submitted a Bill to Obama that 'might' allow nurse practitioners to prescribe buprenorphine, and 'might' raise the cap. I won't repeat everything-- but see my post:

And then someone tell me what the heck the Bill says!!

Noticed this story:

Funny how the film was promoted as a huge advantage of pills because of reduced diversion potential, and now we've come full circle...

I'm waiting to see if the fear of diversion results in adoption of Probuphine, at a cost of 5 grand per dose. Probuphine is an implant that lasts 6 months-- a length of action that will appeal to patients, but will turn off prescribers. Indivior, the manufacturer of ...

 Post subject: Article about addiction
PostPosted: Sat Apr 09, 2016 8:09 pm
I encourage people to check out this article negative towards buprenorphine and positive towards Vivitrol as a 'cure' for addiction:

Consider leaving your opinion in the comment section, and if you do, put a link back to the forum. Many of the comments suggest that we need to get to the 'problems' behind a person's addiction; my point there is that ANYONE can get addicted to opioids, including 'normal' people.

Lot's of ignorance out ...

 Post subject: Disease announcement
PostPosted: Thu Oct 15, 2015 8:40 pm
Today I received an email from HHS (Health and Human Services) alerting doctors to a break-out of.... opioid dependence!!!! I appreciate the recent promise that the cap will be raised sometime this year.... and I'm glad that someone in the current administration is willing to recognize that young people are dying from overdose in record numbers. But really... pointing out the problem in an 'alert'? Now?
