So I've been on suboxone for 2 years. It's created a lack of sex drive which has in turn made my fiance miserable. Which has in turn put pressure on me to get off suboxone. I don't want to get off it too fast because this has been the only time in my life that I've been a functional member of society. But if I stay on, it makes her feel like I don't want her. I'm so torn between either coming off subocone and having my life torn apart again or losing her because I can't get off that I don't know what to do. It's gotten to the point where I feel like I just want to give up on life all together. I don't even know why im posting this, I guess it's just an outlet.

Memphis,
The last sentece in your post hopefully isnt how you really feel.
I bet in the last 2 years that you have been on sub life has been good. Huh?
Good changes happened too.
One of our problems is yes, our sex drive can drop or disappear.
Sub, aloug with all opiates will change the level of testosterone in our systems.
Before you stop sub treatment go have your levels checked. There are medical
reasons and treatments to help get your drive back. Hope you look into it Mkid..
Talk with your girl about it and help her understand why this is a problem..This side effect
is fairly common. Opiates do this. All of them..

Best of luck ?..

Sorry, last night was rough. I've explained it to her every way I know how. She understands intellectually but sometimes just misses it and like goes a little crazy. And sometimes I wonder if I'm better off being on suboxone forever. I lived under a bridge before this. Now I have a place, I'm a student and I work. It's a complete transformation from life before. I thought about testosterone but heard if you start that you'll be on it forever. And I just can't decide how to approach it.

Have you gotten blood tests done to check out your testosterone level?

Opiates lower testerone -- i was below low normal when i got tested while still on Methadone 18 months ago. I've been taking testosterone will tapering off of Methadone and then Subs (i've 4 months+ clean now), and my sex drive has been totally restored.

If your T level is below normal or low-normal, you'll find that Testosterone supplements are also helpful with energy levels.
