I came across this drug today. Apparently it is based on Clonidine, but has had far better results in assisting opioid withdrawal. It is only prescribed in the UK unfortunately, at this stage.

Google search it if you're interested.

Ok...let me see if I have this right...so we are on opiates..so we get on another opiate to get off the first opiate..then we get on something to get off that opiate..but wait..then we have to get on something to get off the something we just took to get off the 2nd opiate..and then................................
No wonder we are all crazy.....lol

seriously...as always thanks for your research into these new drugs...I appreciate it...

There's a difference slipper. Clonidine and Lofexidine are not opioids and not dependence forming. They're basically medications used to help with the symptoms of withdrawal.

So you're not replacing one drug with another in the same way as buprenorphine or methadone. It's more just a medication to ease the pain of withdrawal, like Clonidine.

Too bad it isn't available in the states yet, BUT it did say this in the wiki article you linked to:

"Britannia Pharmaceuticals has licensed lofexidine to be sold by US World Meds for sale in North America, and clinical trials are currently underway to secure approval for sale in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)."

At least we can look forward to it being available here in the future - who knows how far into the future though. But it's something.

Thanks for posting this TJ.

Lofexidine works. I did the clinicle trial in Florida and no detox symptoms. Its a miracle!! CNS is a clinical research facility that is still holding trials around the US. They pay u to participate which is a bonus but ull detox in less than a week. No withdrawls from the Lofedine either. Ive been clean 2weeks and not a single detox symptom. Clear skys ahead once its FDA approved. Hold in there.
