i've written before that i have been on suboxone for about a yr now 8mg a day
my dr told me that i should be able to go every other day dosing because of the "life"
in suboxone. here's my problem, after about 15 hrs past my last dose i start to go through withdrawal symptoms. yawning, teary eyes, anxiety. i cant go 24hrs without feeling the physical effects of withdrawal. by hour 20 i get the restless leg syndrome, cant get comfortable enough to sleep, body weakness and cramps. so is it just me? after such a long time shouldn't i be able to go 24hrs without a dose? or does that only happen if you are on a lower dose like 2-4mg??

Carey,

There are many who are far more knowledgeable that me, and I'm sure they will respond soon. Sometimes you need to wait a day or so. However, it does seem odd to me. The half-life of buprenorphine is about 37 hours, and I would think, especially after a year, that you should be able to go 24 hours without any issue.

What are you doing now about it? You said you're on 8mg a day...do you take a single dose in the morning? What do you do when you get around the 15 hour mark?

Thanks,
Morphing

carey,

Your problem is not a new one. We've had many members here who had very fast metabolisms, like you seem to have. That is what you need to tell your doctor.

Most of us can go a day w/o the Suboxone because of its half life. It's supposed to stay in your system for 36 hours + or - a few hours. But not you. Your system seems to run at a faster pace and your doctor needs to know that. If I were to take a rough guess at how many others are like you I'd say maybe 10%. That's just my 2ยข worth on it.

Research the fast metabolism thing and see what you can find. Then print it and take it to your Dr.

Hope that helped.
