To answer your questions about my taper I must say that I never had to man up, never had to tough it out.

I can't say this loud enough.

MY SUBOXONE TAPER HAS BEEN PAINLESS.

I do mean that. I haven't lost an hour of sleep, no runs to bathroom, no icky feelings, no skin crawl, no nothing.

I had some anxiety in the first week. When I figured out this method was working, that went away as well.

I mean to tell you that I haven't felt anything but good. And happy. And confident.

Honestly, the only thing difficult about this entire process was starting. If I'd started six months ago I'd have saved myself 30 grand in dope money.

But to reiterate, I never had to man up or anything at all.

It's been the easiest most pleasant experience for me.

Day 41

Day two at .10mg a day

Well it occurs to me that tomorrow will be my final dose of Suboxone. That is both exciting and a bit stressful. Suboxone has been very very good to me. I understand why many choose to use it for long term maintenance. I choose to be free from everything and take on life, the good and the bad, sober and clear headed. I've used opiate for seven years off and on, but I've been a 'partier' all my life.

But now I choose sobriety. I want to see how far I can go, what things I can accomplish. I'm 43 years old and getting a late start. But better I start today than tomorrow.

I also want to thank everybody who've posted and wished me well. You will never know how much you helped me. Thanks also to those selfless souls who quietly pray for me, I hope to honor y'all by helping others.

Six weeks hasn't really felt that long. If you're lurking and lost do this taper. I did it with four 8mg pills I bought off the street. About 100$, half of what I was spending daily on roxis.

I am humble and vigilant.

Wish me well.

All the Best!!

I'm anxious to hear how it goes once u jump. I thought going from 24mg a day to 2mg was a huge accomplishment and I just couldn't do the every other day thing. If I had to do it all over again I may have tried the liquid taper method. At the end of the day we're both headed the same way just a little different path. Keep us posted on what the next 2-3 weeks are like. I really do wish u the best of luck.

You did this all with 4 8-mg pills? OMG!! You've been very careful and haven't wasted anything at all. Good job. Waste not, want not, right?

I cannot believe how easy this has been for you. I don't think I've ever heard anyone have such a smooth journey, even short-term Sub-takers. Perhaps it's your attitude? Perhaps you are just really focusing on the good stuff?

You've gotten down really low. .10 is a great place to jump from. You certainly shouldn't have much trouble at all. Smart way to go, IMO!

Please do come back and update. I know you already know this, but please don't forget where you've been, what you learned from going there, and why you want to move forward and not go back. I'm sure life will give you back as much as you put into it, so really the possibilities are endless. To infinity and beyond!!

Day 42

Day three at .10mg a day

Last day of taper

Six weeks since last pill.

Let me begin by saying, again, how fortunate I feel to be where I am currently at, and how thankful I am for my sobriety. When I look back you can not imagine the horror of what I remember, the guilt/shame, all of it. That will be there always. I can not change it, so I choose to us it as guide. My future awaits me, and it will be a challenge. But I have a plan. And now I have a chance. Just a humble little chance to do things right, to live and be proud of myself. The only way I'll make it long term is to begin to love myself, and that means doing things correctly. For far too long I've lived on talent and bull butter, guess I had loads of both. I've never really planned anything in my life, I just chased my tail. Yes I got a degree and a career, but it was nothing I really planned upon. I just went with the flow and pretty soon I was middle age, not really accomplishing anything because I'd never set out to accomplish anything. I was the best partier you ever knew. The drugs, the girls, the all nighters......brother I did it more than anybody you know. i lived like a college student til I turned 43. I guess because I could. But I wasn't happy, not unless I was partying. And that was quite symptom looking back now.

Opiates, roxis and oxys, took my career, and everything else. But it wasn't really the drugs that did it. It was me. I never challenged myself, I lived in a sort of purgatory, one that was self-administered. Living day to day, no real future, no real past.

So here we are. I never really believed 'getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is hard'. I do now. The Suboxone has carried me to where I am today sobriety wise, I've had no hurts/no cravings. I know they will come. Of course it's easy to be sober now, because I am currently consumed by sobriety, but that won't always be the case now will it?? In the the days, weeks, months, years to come we let our guard down don't we??

Her is what I know. I can not take an opiate ever again. Not for any reason, prescribed or not. Not for dental procedures, broken bones, hurt backs, or anything else. I can not take an opiate ever again. I am a shades of grey person, but this is a black and white issue. Knowing that gives a bit of freedom. I can't take just one. Not ever.

So now the hard part begins, and yes it is stressful. But I am looking forward to it in an odd sort of way. The only chance I have to stay sober is to be humble. If I get proud of myself and cocky I will relapse. It's that simple. I can never say I'm recovered. I can never quit forever. But I think I can quit for today. Then I'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow. Sounds simple but that's what I'm left with. That's the only real way I'll make it.

Thank You all for your help. love, and guidance. I shall remain here daily. I like this place. I like these people.

We are all worth saving. May we all fine happiness and Peace.

All the Best!!

Good Luck and God Bless!!

Day 45

Jump + 72 hours.

Yesterday was a very good day. It warmed up a bit and I was able to get outside and enjoy it. No problems at all yesterday, the runs have left. Slept fitfully again last night, and worked out as well. I an amazed and glad I am where I am. And very very grateful. No urges or cravings.

All the Best!!

Good Luck and God Bless!!

Day 46

Jump + 96 hours

Happy St. Valentine's Day.

St. Valentine was a martyred Christian Saint killed by Roman Emperor Claudius II 270 AD. He was imprisoned for marrying Christians and preaching on the street. He was executed for trying to convert the Emperor. But we celebrate the Day as we do, roses/chocolates/cherubs because of Geoffrey Chaucer who wrote of the matings of fowls in the 1300's giving rise to the term lovebirds.

Also VD has origins in the Roman festival Lupercalia held on the Ides of February, where noble men ran naked through Rome hitting noble ladies upon the arms with leather thongs, supposedly to bring them fertility and pregnancy.

Lupercalia from Lupas the she wolf whom suckled Romulas and Remus the mythical brothers who founded Rome. Which makes for an interesting history of St. Valentine's Day. How all this evolved into roses/sweets/chick flicks is beyond me, but I think it has a bit to do with Hallmark marketing.

Feeling good, had dinner with gf at Hibachi, went shopping. Nice day yesterday.

However I awoke at 2:30 am this morn after falling asleep at ten, so 5.5 hours of sleep. Which is a bit different for me, maybe has a bit to do with stopping. But then again, I have a job interview today I'm a bit anxious about. Other than that no symptoms of any kind. Anxiety low to non existent.

All the Best!!

Good Luck and God Bless!!
